Anyone know of any “deck building apps/sites where I can put in the dimensions/etc and it’ll tell me “You need X number of footers and X number of brackets, etc”

TIA

ChatGPT can design your deck for you, including building materials and assembly instructions. My friend used it to design his shed in his backyard.

it all depends on the materials you want to use. The joist spans can be longer between footings for 2x10 than 2x8, than 2x6, etc. The joist spacing can be wider for 2x6 than conventional deck boards. I suggest pricing out the lumber by board-foot then deciding which direction is cheapest.

Send me a picture of where you want your deck and your wife and I'll draw something up for you. (Need pics of wife to determine if you will need 2×8s, 2×10s or engineered trusses)

My tips.. use joist tape on top if you plan on being there a while.

Be selective in your lumber. Go pick it out yourself and then have them deliver.

If it’s very wet…let it dry in sun a few days before install.

I like to size up my deck too.

You need any caulk? I like black caulk the best.
