BTR is falling behind.

MSY and LFT are both getting new terminals. The only thing BTR has going for it is connivence. MSY and LFT have short lines as well.

BTR has the space it needs and a convenient to use parking lot. It isn't state of the art but neither is the city is serves.

I have no complaints about the BTR facility other than I have to drive through Afghanistan to get to it.

I believe they extended the runway years ago to accomodate 737's

Yes I used to try travel through Memphis if possible. Now I live there.

Memphis
Dallas

Houston, always had a shitty experience stopping in Houston.

Frontier has been flying A320s into laffy

From what I hear the Denver flights are usually full.

Orlando flights generally only 75% full.

Runways aren't an issue. They can accommodate 767s.

Demand is the problem.

They used to have flights direct to Chicago. I've taken one before. But that was years ago. I stopped flying out of BTR as they don't have direct flights to where i'm going.

They’ve always been able to handle 737’s. Their runways are 2000’ longer than Midway, which is a SWA hub.

Lol, that's not what's keeping southwest out of btr. It would be their smallest destination by far.

SWA serves Little Rock.

Little Rock metro is bigger than BR i think

And Little Rock is by far the biggest city in state

The biggest thing hurting BTR is MSY and that will only get worse with the bigger better MSY

But they seat about 120+ right? That's what I mean. Not physically.

Delta uses 717, MD88, and occasionally an A319. I imagine they’d be downgrading if AA picks up new destination (and grabs even more market share)

Delta needs another hub in Texas somewhere.

LIT had 2.0 million passengers in 2018.

More than both Pensacola and Baton Rouge.

BR metro is larger by about 100,000 people.

The problem is that roughly 70% of the market chooses MSY. BTR airport is on the opposite side of the city from the frequent fliers.

Not in the morning. You better be there 2 hours before if you don't have pre check and 90 min before even if you don I can get through customs in Atlanta faster than the TSA line in Laf

How strong is the New Orleans mafia that they’re able to keep Southwest out of Baton Rouge?

Southwest Airlines has always had a strict strategy of not flying into/out of nearby airports thus cannibalizing their own market share.

BTR can't even run a proper Pre-Check line.

It takes about the same amount of time to get to MSY as BTR from Prairieville. Not to mention you have to go through ALL of the Baton Rouge traffic in the morning getting to BTR.

I like flying out of BTR, but if MSY has a direct flight, it would be stupid not to fly out of New Orleans.

I know this is pretty random, but the two times that I've actually flown out of BTR there were at least two birds flying around the inside of the terminal.

These instances were years apart too. Coincidence or is it just really easy for birds to get in there?
