he's probably fricked with Paul and Broome.
He was fired the day Paul took the BRPD Chief position. And anyone with half a brain can see this. He will be the sacrificial lamb to help quill the unrest with the blacks and BRPD. Plane and simple.
Cops that work in a certain area of town know the people/residence and repeat offenders of that area. These two cops knew what situation they were pulling up to. So getting out with a gun screaming at the felon with a gun should not be grounds for termination. How many times did Salamoni holster his gun that night before pulling the trigger?
The ONLY thing Paul can hang him on is his use of language. Unfortunately in this pussified world we live in today, if you hurt ones feelings, shame on you.

Mayor will pressure her hand picked police chief to fire them. Police union will sue the city for wrongful termination, City will settle and the officers will get paid. Sterling supporters are satisfied because officers were fired, officers and union are happy because officers can get out of BR with a check.
this is the only way everyone saves face in this. Salamoni is ready to GTFO with a check anyway.

After reading Landry's report, I think he should be fired. The use of force experts both agreed that the actions of the officers were police policy violations.
It isn't acceptable for an officer to put a gun to someone's head and say "I will kill you bitch."
The shoot was clean, but that doesn't make this guy a good cop.

Pointing a gun at an armed criminal who is resisting isn't an issue. Using profanity, while not policy, isn't worth being fired over. People keep referring to "escalating the situation" but the only time Alton was compliant was when Blane took this approach. That doesn't make it "right" because the issue was that he put Lake in more danger, but it proves the idiots wrong who think Alton was going to suddenly comply or live that night if Blane didn't say "fricking" with a gun pointed at him.

Did not happen

The cited practice violations had almost nothing to do with his behavior towards Sterling. Both opined that Salamoni's actions may have increased risks to his partner.

It is in Landry's report.

Put and aim are two different situations. He aimed it at his head, he did not put the gun to his head.

I can't speak for the current chief but lol if you think most of the city and sheriff offices around here are better trained than State Police. I guess that's why they have to flood New Orleans during Mardi Gras and now have had to set up a troop in New Orleans.

ITK people tell me that one of the main interview questions for the prospective BRPD chiefs was if they'd be willing to fire the 2 officers regardless of the outcome of the investigations.

Yes and no. If he doesn't kill Sterling, albeit justified, he probably still has a job. That being said, both of experts om the use of force said Salamoni displayed poor and questionable tactics at various times during the stop. He'll likely be fired for breaking department policy
Probably still has a job????? Hes probably shot and killed. ST. Alton was shot when he was going for his gun after being tased twice

Needing more people has little or nothing to do with who has better training.

If cops got fired for saying frick or any other curse word we would have very few real cops.

He pointed the gun. He never put the gun to his head.
Also, pointing a gun at ones head while using vulgar language is a practice used by law enforcement to gain control of a situation in keeping it from escalating further.

I'm pretty sure there's a certain amount you can actually be awarded if you win a lawsuit against the government. And it can take forever to get any money out of it. I could be wrong. I just know from my past life from working at DOTD about what happened with suits there. In any case, he won't be a multi millionaire. He's just getting screwed.
That is with the State. I believe local government is different.

I hope Salamoni gets paid when he sues.

They need more than help. In a month time of getting there they doubled the arrests that Took NOPD several month. I'm sure you can find the old advocate article about it.

Don't hold your breath. In Louisiana, political subdivisions are not subject to seizure of money or property. Even if he wins a case, the city can basically tell him to go get fricked. A judgment against a city is worthless if the city doesn't want to pay because you can't seize anything to settle the judgment. See: New Orleans.
I can absolutely see that stupid vindictive count just refusing to pay the judgment until Salamoni can get a judge to issue a writ compelling the city's officers to pay the judgment or find out what the inside of a jail cell looks like.

You don’t realize what the guy was talking about? You said the police chief was a glorified highway patrol. He stated state police are the highest trained guys in the state(and that is by a wide margin btw).
When the poster said the above, you mentioned needing more people and your original post didn’t mention needing more people.

Cops use vulgar language because it’s the only thing these shitbags understand. Do you honestly think Saint Alton, who had been waving his weapon at people, would simply comply with “please and thank you”?
