They refuse to realize just how many people have done exactly that and left. If they get their way and somehow block SG (I don't think they will), I'll leave as well along with MANY others. Last one left...turn out the lights.

I don’t like Broome either, but like almost half of the people that live in the now gerrymandered-to-swiss-cheese voting areas, I oppose the retarded idea of st george.

If you don’t like living somewhere, leave. Just like I tell these illegal aliens that come here and try to turn this country into Mexico. Same principle. Don’t like it? Load up your wife’s family hauler and your pickup and roll out, baw Don’t screw up our parish for the rest of us. Which vastly outnumber you snarky lil shits.

case in point.

In a few posts, you've acknowledged white flight as a problem, told people if they didn't like something to move (irony), while ignoring that advice yourself (double irony), and simultaneously not recognizing that St. George is the first real movement that would help EBR parish by limiting and hopefully reversing white flight.

Every opinion you have on the topic is wrong.

The plan probably isn’t to actually win as much as to actively frick over St George so that it is a Pyrrhic victory for them.

I think a lot of this attempted screw job depends on Nov. 16th. If Rispone wins, he will shut this shite down real quick (if he can).

Yea, I wasn't so subtle about calling Crystal what he/she is.

There are limits to what Rispone can do, but having him there is better than not.

He can certify the election and appoint interim officials, though JBE may try to do this quickly to ratfrick StG by picking blatantly anti-StG people to run things until the elections.

Past that, a lot of it is tied up in court and we just have to hope that the current judge is sane and will rule correctly. As opposed to Trudy who would try to frick StG and end up in a protracted battle with the state SC overruling her.

Edwards will be governor until January, no matter what happens on the 16th. If Rispone wins, JBE is going to frick over St. George as much as he can on his way out to pay back the BR political machine for their support over the years. He's going to clear his debts to them by wrapping a nice bow on the St. George frickery before he leaves office.

His honor code demands it.

1) Crystal is a troll. Don’t ever feed a troll.
2) StG is a lot bigger than Baker and the demographics of StG won’t change significantly in the interim period.
3) I’m a Democrat who voted for Rispone lol
4) StG will win at the district court and appellate levels. It will be very hard for the State Supreme Court to overturn if they even take up the matter.
5) The only thing unknown is how long the district court will take. He doesn’t have to appoint a commissioner. He can do it himself. It could be a 6 month matter if he wants it be.

Funny part, IMHO, is that SWB’s suit could prevent a lot of JBE’s frickery.

If SWB’s challenge isn’t thrown out, it can be argued that there would be an injunction in place to keep StG from forming, meaning JBE can’t appoint the officials.

But if SWB’s suit gets tossed, I figure Fat Chauna and about 3 more council members all sue if they are allowed to do so individually if they can’t get a majority of the council.

There's really no question that on the face of the suit, Ungelsby at least is a proper party. Cormier and Broome may get tossed but that won't dismiss the suit in its entirety. I think the plan of government argument that Pierson makes is a weak one and Morvant will probably rule that section of the plan of government contrary to the state constitution, as the 1st Circuit did in 2007. But St. G will likely have to answer for the alleged deficiencies in its petition.

I would imagine, as long as this is tied up in courts, JBE cannot appoint a mayor and city council. If that is the case, it would be some real frickery if they withdrew the suit in order for JBE to appoint, then file again.

I’d imagine Cormier and Brooke’s suits would get dismissed with prejudice.

Unglesby? Depends on why he is withdrawing his suit. Legal frickery like trying to let JBE appoint officials and/or getting a different judge would be frowned upon.

I get why BR residents don't want SG. They don't want their taxes to go up to make up for the lost revenue. What they don't understand is that SG really can be good for EBR Parish as a whole. If it helps to stop and/or reverse flight to the surrounding parishes, it will keep those tax dollars in EBR Parish.

Why hadn’t the SG election been “certified” when all of the races of the day have been settled and we’ve moved on to another primary in many cases?

They don’t care. They would rather burn down everything and rule over the ashes than cede money or power that would help them improve.

Christ, we have stupid people trying to go from unincorporated areas or St George to Baton Rouge because they thing St George might raise their taxes. Ignoring, you know, that joining BR DEFINITELY raises their taxes significantly.

The prevalent attitude in EBR is that if one area prospers it happens at the expense of another.

Here are a few examples; the Mayor believes if SBR prospers it hurts NBR. The anti Downtown crowd believes helping Downtown comes at the expense of the suburbs. The anti SG crowd believes an independent SG is going to hurt BR.

The truth is if one area prospers, we all prosper. Most, not all, of our taxes are parish wide taxes.

Look on your property tax bill and you'll see a many of those taxes go to parish wide entities. You sewer and trash fee is a parishwide fee. MovEBR, GL, COA, Mental Health, MARC, etc. are all parishwide taxes.

Sure thee are city taxes and regional taxes for fire districts, police and schools. But a large part of our taxes go for the common good. If Downtown booms and property values go up, that helps pay for things we all use. If Rouzan flourishes that helps us all. If Zachary prospers we all benefit. The same thing applies to SG.

How does this idiot have time to file a lawsuit?

-Worst Traffic in the country
-Worst education in the state (worst state for education in the country)
-Worst economic growth in the state/country
-Top 5 highest homicide rate in the country
-Stagnant population since 1980 but...
-Exponential budget growth reaching $1 billion
-Most overleveraged city in the country

and we gave R. Kelly a key to this city
