To be honest, if I were on active duty the notion of checking with the host on this would never cross my mind. Times have changed though it seems.

I think this could have been avoided by asking, but I don't think the Marine did anything wrong...and the chick magnet thing is TRUTH!!!!

You obviously don't get military level benefits, but you do get more than you are letting on.

Welp. Didn't think I'd see a wedding dress code etiquette thread hit 30 pages, but here we are.

It's funny that someone who conforms via their uniform as a part of their military career rejects to conform at request of someone else.

That's the whole point of a planned wedding like that.

However, the Bride's reaction was certainly out of bounds. Both of those things, he being inconsiderate for wearing it without asking and her being wrong for kicking him out, can be bad decisions at the same time.

The biggest upset of March has to be this thread hitting 37 pages.

Well the basketball teams couldn't pull any upsets so someone had to.

This entire issue comes down to the difference between civilian and military dress codes.

The military regulations are designed around when a past or current military member MAY wear their uniform. The military controls when and in what manner you may wear the uniform.

The civilian dress "codes" are "rules" based around what is appropriate to wear at certain functions.

Black tie optional dress code: BTO

This doesn't discount the fact the bride was an arse but the attendee did not meet the civilian dress code at a civilian function.

Both parties here engaged in poor taste.

According to the story she didn’t like that he was stealing her thunder by wearing his uniform.

To each their own- but I'm glad to say I don't know anyone so fragile they'd kick someone out of their wedding over this issue.

She's probably a psycho.

I don't assume there was legitimate clergy at this ceremony as the Bride figured it was "her day" and it does not appear that the Holy Spirit was present by her actions. But curious if there was a priest, was he not supposed to wear his vestments or would he be upstaging the bride.
