lost any and all respect I had for you the first time you asked for the AARP discount that time we went to Piccadilly.

Normally, as old and haggard as I look, I don't have to ask....

Speaking of, after you walked away, I stole the 3.75 that you left for a tip.

You obviously don't get military level benefits, but you do get more than you are letting on. College tuition for your kids, office supply stores all have them, some electronics places, you can find travel benefits, pretty much anything literary like news and books, clothing stores, craft stores, software, computers, insurance, and all kinds of vacation benefits just to name a few.

My mother-in-law is one of probably more than a dozen teachers in my extended family. She knows every little crack in the system to get the discounts.

Why is he in the wrong for wearing something that is considered the SAME THING as wearing something like black tie optional?

I don’t give a shite if she reserves the right to kick anybody out of her wedding. What he wore is most definitely permissible by ANY standards.

If he had any respect for the bride and groom he should have ask permission.

The meal was $20..since I paid for your $10 all you can buffet.

I thought $3.75 was appropriate since all she did was wipe your mouth a few times

Welp. Didn't think I'd see a wedding dress code etiquette thread hit 30 pages, but here we are.

Just admit that it was in bad taste and inappropriate and lets move on

There's nothing inappropriate or in bad taste about it. It just bothers you and you can't admit it.

Thank you.

but to be honest, other than my free blooming onion on Veterans Day, I can't remember the last time I took advantage of a veteran discount.

How much does that cost, about 7.95?

If you stay four days I can beat that. Mind you, that is total... Not each day.

Rex ball dress code

Even Rex allows military personnel in uniform....

now all that being said...

Dress Blue is the equivalent of black tie...particularly for an enlisted Marine...

If an officer, he should be wearing mess dress...

I think those people who are bothered by someone wearing a uniform would have a point if it was some guy who served years ago and now was back to civilian life.

But if he’s active duty, wearing the dress uniform of whatever branch he’s currently serving with is totally appropriate. For example, when I was on active duty I wore my uniform to things like weddings and funerals, as was the custom. But since I came off active duty the only time it’s come out of the closet was a few years ago when my son wanted to see it. Other than that it hangs in the back of the closet in its protective bag. The next time I’ll have it on is when I’m laid out in my casket.

I think it’s fine as long as its stated on the invitation or dress code.

It wasn’t in this instance.

They explicitly make an exception for members of the military.

It is acceptable attire, but it's not what most civilians expect when they set their dress code. Common sense would say checking with the host is the right move in this case.
