Bride is a self-aggrandizing lunatic for kicking him out.

With that said, it's poor form to show up to anyone's celebration, whether it be their wedding, their retirement, their graduation, their receiving an award, whatever, dressed in a way that you know will grab attention and distract from your host. That's just basic social etiquette.

I think this is the feeling of most in here, outside of a few who think the guy did nothing wrong at all.

frick yes they do, I know a lot of teachers. E

Haha I am a teacher and the only thing I get is a free burrito from Chipotle once a year on teacher appreciation week. I guess I need to educate myself on all these great beni's of being a teacher.

Looks cheap to me. Here, take 20 cents off your milkshake.

I think service folks should TIP less too.

Someone start THAT thread... Ha.

as I posted earlier, I'm attending a wedding in a few months and have been asked to wear my uniform, almost every funeral notice I receive I'm asked to wear a uniform

I'm asking about the code itself.

What I could find...

quote:

Former Marines, or Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve, who separated under honorable conditions, may wear their uniform only during the following times:
• Military funerals
, memorial services, weddings and inaugurals.
• Parades on national or state holidays; or other parades or ceremonies of a patriotic character in which any military unit is taking part.

Authorization to wear the uniform should be granted by a commanding officer when reasonably assured that the service member’s appearance in uniform at the particular event, viewed objectively, is not for the purpose of lending substantial weight or significance to privately held convictions or interests; would not be so construed by an observer; and that the demonstration, assembly or activity does not relate to matters in public controversy.

I wonder when that came into Vogue. Dost seems to lament the lack of respect that the military receives these days, I want if there's a correlation between the two.

Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-military at all, I've just never had a lot of respect for people that are constantly asking for discounts.
Like the poster said earlier, if you enlisted, that was your choice.

Idk... We're all fighting a battle trying to get out of here alive. Nobody's going to do it.

the discounts that I'm referring to are really for the business that I'm in now, not mil discounts, but they are pretty substantial savings, throwing away money to not take advantage of them, not talking about milkshakes, for example, stayed in a 1600 sq.ft. apt in Venice, Italy for a week right before Oktoberfest a few months back for $80/day, think the going rate was just under $600/day, been doing that shite for coming up on 40 yeras

Regular wedding- wear your military uniforms.

Black tie that doesn’t specifically state uniforms are ok- do not

It’s simple; following directions.

Why is he in the wrong for wearing something that is considered the SAME THING as wearing something like black tie optional?

I don’t give a shite if she reserves the right to kick anybody out of her wedding. What he wore is most definitely permissible by ANY standards.
