this is not true.
i recall invitations that require black tie and have also mentioned military may wear their uniforms.
it is not and never has been an unwritten rule that you are expected to wear your uniform. You made that up.
As as already been pointed out to you, you’re dead wrong.

I understand it was the norm, but it was never expected. Civilians don't expect someone in the military to wear their uniform to an event.
but again, I've seen invitations to events that specifically stated military can wear their uniforms. But if an invitation specifically states black tie only, you dress for the occasion.

But it appears now that bothers many for some reason that I still have not got a straight answer on.
You literally just replied to a straight answer on it from ironically a giant fig.

Bride was a crazy overreacting bitch
quote:I never said this, I offered that he may not have formal attire or a suit so he wore of what he owned that best fit the dress code
Now let me spend 2 paragraphs talking about how military dudes in uniform are attention whoring douchebags and make excuses for the bride because weddings are stressful.
Im pointing out that darth is either stupid or obtuse to keep asking the SAME question over and over again just so he can remind us he served.
I dont know if this young man in the story was seeking attention, but for damn sure darth is
plus i just like stirring up shite

look, I've said the bride is a loon for kicking baw out. But you're just making shite up acting as if regular civilians expect military folks to wear their uniforms to a black tie function.
Is/was it normal? Yes. Expected? No.

I just replied to the last post. It wasn’t directed specifically at you. Just an observation about the thread.

Was in line behind a guy at an ice cream shop in Florida last night that demanded a military discount for a milk shake. GTFO with that shite. It was your choice to join the military. I respect you and your service but you aren't owed anything. Do teachers, firefighters, police, gas store clerks, oil field baws or commercial fisherman get or request discounts for basic needs/wants?
If you were drafted and had no choice you should get more than 10% off for some lumber at Home Depot. If it was your choice..not so much
Again, I respect those that serve/served but what you choose to do with your life is no more important than anyone else (except those that choose to milk the welfare system)

I know it's a meme on here that anything you complain about or make fun of is clearly something that bothers, offends, or otherwise triggers you, but that simply isn't true.
One can discuss something without being bothered by it.

Are you that insecure that you have to be this petty? I’m asking the same question to different people to find out different opinions, dumbass.

Do teachers
frick yes they do, I know a lot of teachers. Every damn one of them gets every discount they can, because they are so low paid.
God forbid they ever get a formal attire uniform.

Never wore my uniform to a wedding even my own( and she was pissed I didn’t get the jacket in time) only funerals. No crazy bride to worry about.
From what I gather, you're only supposed to wear it to military funerals. Civilian funerals appear to be a no go according to the Marines. Can anyone confirm?

Why would someone not ask for a discount if there is one? Just don't be a jerk about it.

as I posted earlier, I'm attending a wedding in a few months and have been asked to wear my uniform, almost every funeral notice I receive I'm asked to wear a uniform

I think you to keep following this "bothered" and "offended" narrative because it fits your narrow minded argument.
Why dont you just admit that the guy wore his militarily formal blues to a wedding that
A. He was not the groom
B. He was not a part of the wedding party
C. He was not even a family member
D. He was not working a security detail
E. In fact he was the son of one of the brides, husband's family
friends(probably didnt even know the bride)
Just admit that it was in bad taste and inappropriate and lets move on
