No, but he should know that that uniform will stick out. Sticking out too much is taboo at weddings generally.

I love Military but if the Uniform of the day was black tie and suit then he should of worn just that out of respect for the ceremony.

Why is this more frowned upon than a woman losing her damn mind on her wedding day?

OK. This wasn't your wedding.

The bride handled it poorly, but that isn't unexpected.

Absolutely. To an even greater extent

Now they won’t remember how beautiful you looked in your dress or how much fun the wedding was. They will remember how you kicked a guy out because he was dressed in a uniform.

Yeah, she ruined her own day but she doesn't seem the type that would ever even consider her own role.

He was mildly inappropriate, she was a nutcase bitch who any sensible man would have left at the altar.

I didn't say she gets a pass.

What I'm saying is that most people try to avoid sticking out at weddings because they know that there's a chance the bride won't like it.

Because courtesy and etiquette favor her in this situation. She is stressed out to the max about this day and well beyond the standard "bitches be crazy" stereotype. He is just in his "young and thinking with his dick" stereotype. Situation favors her. Both are still wrong though.

Dude. Cause it's HER fricking wedding day. it's months and months of stress building up, and errrrrbody knows a bride is a ticking time bomb you just dont want to cross in any way. This was just the small thing that broke her she wasnt prepped for.

Get over it, the guy was in the wrong causing the issue. Thanks for the service, but doesnt mean everyone needs to bow down to every tom, dick, and harry in a uniform.

No it doesn’t.

quote:

It's an etiquette thing, if you want to do something outside of the invitation, you should ask. It's a civilian wedding and you aren't part of the family.

Furthermore, how did he know what the invitation said? If he’s a son of parents who are family friends, who’s to say that he even got an invitation? His parents could have gotten one that said “Mr and Mrs. X and family” he may have never seen the invitation. Hell, he probably asked his parents if wearing his blues would be ok to which they probably replied in the affirmative not thinking that the bride would be that big of a bitch.

He was not in the wrong. If she didn’t want somebody that is in the military to wear his dress uniform to her wedding, she should’ve explicitly stated such in the invitation. Which I’m sure she’ll do for her next marriage. Dress Blues act as substitutes for black tie optional end of story. It’s her fault for acting like the bitch she is.

Yes it does, that's why the story mentions it. Learn manners.

Yes he was, look at this thread, most people agree both were in the wrong. It's just assessing who was more of a dick in this situation. You must be trashy and don't understand etiquette.

Exactly, it’s an insignificant thing that set her off because she’s clearly a controlling bitch.

It’s not just her fricking wedding day. It’s hers and her groom’s. People seem to lose sight of the fact that there’s another person there too that is getting married and I believe that’s a problem.

Seems like the Marine didn’t ruin the wedding, she did by her actions.

Do young dudes know this? It wouldn't have crossed my mind as a single dude in my early twenties.

Bride is an idiot and completely naive and ignorant of what she expects of her guests vs what she sent out in the invitations. What she specified for attire falls completely within wearing military dress uniforms. If she didn’t want that, then should have specified that.

Very immature on her part. She’s looking pretty petty and childish for a day in which she should be showing grace and maturity.

That's fine that you think that's a problem. It won't change anything though.

A lot of girls spend a good chunk of their lives thinking about their wedding day. They plan every detail for months and sometimes years. That's why the little things can set off the bride.

That day isn't and never will be about the groom.

I learned it as soon as I saw my friends start planning weddings and getting married.
