Nah, but its a sad attempt to grab attention. I’m in the medical field, what if I wore a white coat to a wedding? Just fit in with the crowd

I have been apart of a military wedding where we did the saber arch and all that ,but it was a military couple that got married in our company. I would never have gone to a wedding in uniform unless asked too ,but I don't see the big deal. If a bride is worried about a dude upstaging her on her wedding day than she sounds like a count.

Because it is not formal wear.

I agree with the bride. He was hoping to score with a bridesmaid

Terrible analogy.

I think people do a lot more overthinking and overreacting these days. That’s what I think.

Not only would I have not been offended, I would have made sure he was recognized for his service. That stupid bride will live with this stupidly the rest of her life.

Dude was fricking taking pictures with people.
They both don't look good in this situation, if you aren't part of the family and get permission, don't wear it. Dude was definitely just thinking of hooking up though, not thinking about taking attention from the bride. If he didn't have the money to rent a tux and he got kicked out so he wasn't that important to have there anyway, maybe he shouldn't of even went, but free booze and chicks do have an allure.
She reacted awful, but it is a wedding day and women do focus on some weird shite if it doesn't go like it is supposed to on that day. My wife still gets irritated about some things no one even noticed.

Kinda weird of him to wear it but wayyyy worse for her to ask him to leave.
going to a wedding in a few months and I've been asked to wear my old uniform

By itself no, but the bigger picture etiquette wise, he was in the wrong first.

He wasn't asked and didn't ask, that is the difference.

Perfect storm situation here imo
Military dude shows up to try to get laid, leaves tact at home.
Emotional and stressed bride sees said tactless military dude getting attention and responds irrationally.
It's an unfortunate situation, a bad look for all involved, and not at all surprising.

Oh no, can’t have any of that.

He does not need the bride’s permission to wear it.

Which does not absolve her for being a complete bitch.
Look, I get it, the guy was going to stick out like the bride would. However, he does not need nor should he have to ask her permission to wear the Marine equivalent of formal wear to her wedding. Especially when the bitch didn’t explicitly state that there would be no military uniform allowed.

the man “of course was acting very well mannered and like a complete gentleman,” adding that “there were even a few excited teenage girls at my wedding who wanted to take a picture with him, to which he graciously agreed.”
the Marine’s popularity proved to be too much for the bride
there's the problem.

If he was like some MOH winner that became the star of the event maybe I'd see her point, but I highly doubt everyone was in awe of a Marine in his blues to the extent she was truly overshadowed. If some young girls wanted to dance with him, who gives a shite, and what kind of bitch wouldn't think that was fun? Regardless, even if he did steal the show to some extent, anyone who would make a well-mannered, polite person leave just for being too well-liked is not marriage material.
Medal of Honor winners and in general guys who have seen a lot of combat don't like the "look at me" moments. This dude is probably young and trying to show off.

It makes him look bad, he likes the attention and that's what he was thinking when he decided to wear it. He wanted attention from the ladies.

It's an etiquette thing, if you want to do something outside of the invitation, you should ask. It's a civilian wedding and you aren't part of the family.
She definitely was irrational, women get that way on the day we programmed them to look forward to their entire lives. I am willing to give her a bit of slack on this one. Dude was young and thinking with his dick.
