If you were lucky enough to follow this story live, I'm sure you will never forget it, like me. What a day.
Brett will live forever inside us all..
He's not dead tho... just awesome.
Go to the 30 minute mark

Going to need more info before I click on something that is at least 30 mins long. How about the Cliffs?

Cliffs?

He went from trying to turn around in that driveway thinking he could out run the storm surge to aborting and having his truck full of storm surge floating like a cork in a matter of minutes.
His dash cam caught it all on video.

Brett Adair is a meteorologist and experienced storm chaser. He and whoever was with him had gone to the Port St. Joe area and were working their way back toward Mexico Beach near the time of landfall. They encountered downed power lines on the Hwy 98 (main highway that goes right along the beach). They tried to work some further back roads but couldn't get through there either. They end up in the driveway of a house on 98 trying to turn around. The storm surge came up VERY quickly and they were trapped. They had to abandon the truck and get into the house they were beside, which someone was in and let them in. The truck then was engulfed by the surge and floated away, with the dashcam still streaming video. Watching it live, we all thought they were going to die. By the Grace of God someone was in that house to let them in. They are alive and Adair's wife has been in contact with him.
People have been critical of him, but the road they were on one minute that was not covered by surge, got covered fast. I think they got caught off guard by the quickness of the rise in surge.

He’s a very stupid man.
I don't see the need for this knuckle head to be out driving around in a Cat 4 hurricane. There were so many points where he could have been in real jeopardy. At any point a power pole could have come down on his truck and it would be lights out. Driving over that overpass in probable 120 knot winds is just plain idiotic.

Maybe to some. He is doing what he loves.
I can assure you his and other "chasers" footage was much better than the circus show TWC put on yesterday

Unfortunately, those 40 minutes of riveting video will allow him to earn a small fortune. I say "unfortunately" because we will now see dozens of copy cats venture into harm's way during the next storm.
I'm part of the problem since I was glued to his video feed well before the stuff hit the fan. It was great stuff

Who started the thread yesterday saying, "Today is the day we might see a storm chaser die on live tv"? Good call.

You’re just looking for something to cry about. People have been fricking chasing storms for years

You could say throughout history the biggest idiots brought along the greatest discoveries. We celebrated an idiot on Monday that thought he sailed around the world to fricking India but was actually somewhere nobody had ever been to.
This footage is one of the best looks we have on record of the effects of an intense hurricane, and the panic it can cause. The deterioration of the weather was rapid and decisive. It may teach people who were otherwise ignorant that a storm surge is the most dangerous part of a hurricane and can happen very quickly.
I watched this last night and it was like a real life horror movie. Around 35 minutes when they are trying to head north and get caught in a trap of down power lines only to go back to the beach and have to bail was chilling.
I wish I could have seen this live, the guy may be an idiot but he got some great footage.

Actually, if you listen to the video, TWICE he told his “spotter” or whatever you call them, that he didn’t want to go to Mexico Beach because of possible storm surge. That guy erroneously told him twice that storm surge wouldn’t be an issue there. I am sure we will find out in time if that is some sort of boss of his.
Regardless, I bet Brett trusts his own instincts in the future

This. For a few it might inspire them to do the same, but for most who see it, it will give them more incentive to get the hell out of dodge if a big un is heading your way.
