This will be the 3rd election in a row where I refuse to vote for any candidate with a D or an R next to their name.
I want to vote. I want to do my duty. I really do.
But none of these people even come close to representing me or my beliefs, so why should I vote for them?
It drives me insane.

Both Bret and Eric have been on the last month and I enjoy them both.
It’s really funny but while I’m sure they and I would disagree on several small details, we could come to a lot of agreement
However, the second they talk about Trump they go crazy on dictatorship and threat to our democracy. And I
every time.
Trump sucks in so many ways and over half of their criticisms are valid, but they live in the freeist dictatorship in the world where they can campaign against the current dictator openly and he’ll leave office after it’s all said and done.
Our democracy isn’t threatened by him. He’s an a-hole to other world leaders. He’s an a-hole to the other party. He just doesn’t hide behind policy to be immature and play team sports politics.
None of this is an endorsement of Trump. It’s just guys like the Weinsteins and Sam Harris are case in point of people with solid intellectual minds that have TDS.
Sam Harris also had a fantastic podcast last week about race that I really enjoyed.

quote:I've been saying it (along the lines of what BW is saying) for years to, well, mostly my wife, but still I've been saying for years that so damn many of us are so damn stupid and caught up in the luxuries of our 21st century lives and our 21st century grind in our short time under the sun, that we've been duped by the Ponzi scheme going on right up under our noses and have been duped for decades.
He's hitting on something I just can't understand. You have most of what this site is comprised of - suburban and rural white people who vote republican and then you have a more diverse cross-section of people who are urban who vote democrat.
But neither the republican or democrat bases are voting for their interests. Instead, y'all are all arguing against each other over social issues. Social power is not power - political power is.
So who's winning? For common people, no one. The aristocratic class, though, is gangbusters.
Who is going to show leadership here and stop arguing over meaningless shite and actually get something done? Who is going to just say something simple - we need more funding for social programs, policing is a social program, and we will get that money from the 1 percent of people who have 25 times more wealth than the bottom 99 percent? It's embarrassing and this guy is right, there's almost no way this ends well.
The problem for the media is that it and the politicians are one and the same. We all know that, so nothing new there, but ponder on that point and perhaps the fury and rage and fear will hit you: The people who form the narrative of the pulse of the public are in bed with those who legislate which of those pulses is legal and which is not. It is a perfect storm of a totalitarian state in the making. shite, they have a huge dinner in DC every year to joke around with each other while they dine on fine food and get drunk on one another's power. I hate them all. Ban that nonsense. The majority of the media outlets would, overnight, either disappear or be drastically downsized *gasp* to handle only real journalism *gasp again* without a robust, oversized, scandalous government to cover and spew forth bullshite about.
The problem is not the police, it is the police state.
The problem is not racism, the problem is classism, but outside of the injection of their money into the pockets of the politicians, the "classism" problem is not affiliated with capitalistic enterprises working for money, the problem is with the fact that those enterprises, once big enough, must line political pockets because those pockets belong to individuals who can shut them down. The most high-falutin high class of them all in this country are the fatcat politicians: Our local, state and federal offices are held by individuals who are filthy rich with money and fame and ultimate power, and our political offices are held by people with stories after stories of "rags to riches" in a matter of one term, let alone decades' worth of them. Besides that, the overwhelming number of politicians in office were already affiliated with, or swimming in, money, fame, influence and power. Their intentions are anything but noble from the start. Therefore, many of them were born into a world where they believe themselves to be royalty, and regardless, once they're in actual power they all, collectively, live like and think like they are literal kings, and with good reason: We've foolishly made them that way. We have crowned our own king, and his name is Uncle Sam.
The money in politics must go. The lifetime career as a politician- especially a federal one- along with the bureaucrat scum, must go.
Term limits must be imposed.
Full stop.
No more lifelong politicians, and no more lifelong bureaucrats outside of a select few individuals in law enforcement, and even then the ice is thin after the fiasco we've seen since the last election.
The problem for King Sam is this: How does he play his hand in all of this without having his neck on the guillotine; because if there are no police to protect him, nor to enforce his laws that he serves out to the public like a baker serves cakes, then who WILL enforce his laws and also protect him from the spite of the people?
That is the conundrum for the ruling elite right now, and it is one that cannot be solved without the actual "police" of the police state. Politicians, especially entrenched ones, are goddamn idiots when it comes to "walking around, common man" sense, but even they won't shoot themselves in the foot- not knowingly, at least. You cannot have "police state" without the word "police."
The answer to the king's problem is to divide, divide, divide- and do it decisively. Make sure the people feel as though there is no middle ground. Banish the notion that, "the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle," and make sure they despise one another because of it. The solution is to make sure the people on each side have the illusion that there are actual sides in the king's bureaucracy, and that it is a zero sum game. Make the people on each side believe the king is fighting for them. The king's plan is to manufacture a growing necessity of the necessity of a growing bureaucracy with clearly split lines down the middle. You either is, or you either ain't- scheme for that. Put the media on it and have them plant the seed. Slow and steady does it. Until the time is just right to strike the fatal blow.
This is bigger than black and white people, this is the people whose freedoms hang in the balance of the end result.
While going to lunch the other day with one of my best friends, I told him (after being asked) that if there was one thing- one warning- that I would want to give to him and his people (black folk) who have overwhelmingly voted for the party of "more government" for decades, regarding all of this going on and from the standpoint of an outside observer and a proponent of black Americans solving genuine problems within their own community and who unabashedly despises what the federal government has become (and has done) to its people, it would be this: Be aware. Be very aware of the imminent scheming. If you want freedom and equality, especially freedom, then your lawMAKERS ain't it, chief. Be aware of the snakes in the grass, because THIS IS A PROBLEM for them because they are humans too, and humans are universally wired the same, even when it comes to power: They are thirsty for more of it, especially once they've tasted it, and they will do anything- everything - to fill their bellies with more of it. They will certainly lie.
The politicians who send out police officers to enforce the speeding laws they created cannot have their laws implemented from their comfortable, grandiose offices that our tax money pays for: The state must have its police to ensure more power and more control, and with that being the case, we'd all better be wary of how the politicians will play their hand in all of this, because their ultimate goal is more power, and in order to keep that power, let alone grow it, the police are needed.
To dissolve the police is to disolve the king's power over the people, and seeing as how we've foolishly fattened them up with it all these years, what makes us think they'll hand some of it back over to the people so readily and honestly?
They won't.
This is a very. big. problem. for the ruling elite because their force, their mouthpiece, is being put in check by the people, but we are still so dumb and duped by the snake into believing the tail is where his poison is found, and because of that, now more than ever, we are going to be fatally bitten if we don't get him up from the weeds where he hides.

Sad part is most of the voting public is in the same boat. Most of the people I know who support either Trump or Biden in this election are using the lesser evil rhetoric, same as last election. The tail is wagging the dog on both ends of the political spectrum, and has been for a very long time.

Weinstein is a smart stupid person. He’s a walking contradiction. Had he not been cancelled, he’d be right in the middle of all of this Leftist movement without the fame.
Uh, Come again? He literally was cancelled for suggesting it was wrong for black people to try to infringe on the rights of whites, Asians, Latinos etc.

I want Joe to interview the Weinstein brothers together. I know Rubin did it, but his style kind of annoys me.

you guys are insane if you actually believe that the mainstream democrats are any different than the people you vote for, they just pander on social issues.
Those types aren't Democrats anymore. What's left is mostly a combo of radical marxists and people who aren't paying attention.

I love Brett and Eric. Both are true leaders whose voices need to be elevated if we are to make it out of this mess.

I think the Sam Harris podcast can we make it back from the brink was better, I was surprised by his stance. He usually puts me to sleep, but it was good.

I really enjoyed his stance on how the black lives movement will become successful. He’s basically states that all successful movements of the past have been based on science. But then he goes on to say that the Black Lives Matter movement totally ignore science and facts. He says there is not a good representation of the black community in the sciences.
The Asian community was similarly oppressed following Korea and WW2. Japan and South Korea have made significant strides in science and tech. Thus being more successful in overcoming racism and oppression.
The basis of the protests now totally ignores facts and science and is fueled by the media controlling people’s emotions and sensationalizing isolated police brutality. But he also goes on to say that the numbers may not tell the entire story because the reporting system is not regulated enough. Lack of oversight into police work skew the numbers on Police brutality.
Even if the numbers concerning police brutality are skewed the they are so staggering that completely ignoring them shows that the real issues sickening this country are being ignored.

I am about half way through. So far this is what my mind has needed.

Jordan Peterson is an even better interview

His interview with Saagar and Krystal Ball a few weeks ago was one of his best. Buck Sexton created the Rising show with Krystal, then Saagar joined when Buck moved onto his own podcast. Both are completely opposite sides of the aisle, but they do a show together and I think do a pretty good job at calling out BS on both sides.
In short, Saagar was a Fox reporter and Krystal was with MSNBC. Both describe leaving their networks because of being handed talking points every day. They say there is not an original thought in modern mainstream media. And as long as you stay in line with the narrative, you will always have a job within the party no matter how wrong your reporting is. If you speak outside of the parameters, the wolves are out to get you.
It's well worth the listen, I think the first 30 minutes or so minutes are about the media then the show pivots towards thoughts around Covid lockdowns and the protests.
JRE Krystal and Saagar

I think that just as democrats must admit that hillary and her ilk helped bring along Trump with their denials and pretending everything is fine, the republicans must also come to terms with the fact that in many cases, denying the presence of any inequality, or lack of equal opportunity for advancement in many communities - has helped what should be small, isolated ideologies gain more support because they pretend to give voice to their concerns. Regardless of the fact that those ideologies won't end up helping him, the people flocking there are joining because a large portion of the normal groups want to pretend that nothing is wrong and so people start looking for some change, any change.
Couldn't agree more.
I don't know what the solution is, but every day it seems like everyone who gets the spotlight is increasingly unreasonable. Of course there is a systemic issue in the black community documented by decades and decades of high crime, high incarceration rates, low education attainment, and poverty. That doesn't just happen to one race because they are "inferior". We are all homo sapiens. There is obviously something larger at play, and denying that is burying your head in the sand. At the same time, I'm very much against playing the victim card and asking for reparations. I've been nothing but consistent in the way I interact with people, regardless of their race. And if you're looking for me to go out of my way to help you get what you feel you're "owed", you're sadly mistaken. I'll gladly vote in the polls accordingly. Other than that, I'm sorry.

Listening to the podcast now.
Good bit in, and all I hear are excuses. Keep hearing problems with everyone and everything, and nothing is the fault of the "disenfranshised".
