Bret Hart was his own worst enemy.

He never brought money to either company. Which is why McMahon let him go.

People didn't care much for him until the Montreal thing, which he brought on himself.

Eric brought kevin Nash and razor Ramon over and hooked them up with hulk hogan to form NWO. That was big for wcw at the time.

From what i can remember Hart didn't do anything in WCW...I think it was a combination of bad creative writing and Hart just not being into wrestling anymore

Yeah I don't think the blame is all on Hart nor do I think the blame is all on Bischoff.

Bischoff created the NWO, but the angle was largely based on an angle that was running in Japan at the time. I'm not sure that, creatively speaking, Bischoff ever really contributed in a meaningful way.

You have to give him props though for turning WCW into the money making machine it became in 1996-1998. Literally no other head of WCW was able to turn a profit with that company. No other wrestling promoter has ever beaten WWE in the ratings either.

For me personally, Bret Hart never drew a dime. Guy was as dull as dull can be.

Not sure Bret is a liar.

Bitter SOB is a given. His life since November 1997 has been a shite show.

Leaving aside how he left WWF, he got knocked into retirement by Goldberg concussing him and WCW putting him back in the ring before they should have, Owen died due to an ill fated stunt, Bulldog had major back damage then died, he had a stroke, he got divorced, both parents died, etc.

As far as Bischoff goes, “creative” is not how I would describe him.

I’ll give him credit for having huge brass balls for a number of the stunts he did such as running live opposite Raw, paying Lex Luger to jump ship without notice, give away the results of taped Raw shows on the air, etc.

I also give him credit for letting guys like Kevin Sullivan talk him into signing a bunch of talented guys like Rey, Benoit, Jericho, Eddy, etc.

His big downfall was really an inability to wrap up the nWo angle and, by extension, an inability to create new talent because the upper card was so clogged with past their prime guys like Hogan, Savage, Piper, etc.

Goldberg was the one homegrown talent they managed to build and they fricked that up. And how they fricked that up, with Goldberg getting screwed by Nash then Nash giving the belt to Hogan, was the beginning of the end because it rehashed the nWo for the millionth time.

They lasted 2 more years after that but Bischoff was fired several months after that decision.

Good points, and yeah I'm not saying Bret is a liar. That's just Bischoff's stance. Like said, I think the truth is somewhere in between. And to your point, what was one of Bret's angles...the damn NWO (again).

No doubt his life has been a shitshow.

You know you can take the cock out of your mouth when you talk, right?

Think of it as the NBA or NFL with less retarded storylines.

Bret Hart was my idol growing up and he tells the truth. People don't care for him because he doesn't BS and tells it as he sees it. Still the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be

Bischoff’s big downfall was the ridiculous contracts the new wrestlers were given and allowing a few of them (Nash) to write their own storylines.

Nash booking isn’t necessarily an issue.

Nash booking himself to beat Goldberg? That’s an issue.

Nash booking himself to beat Sid in a powerbomb match by telling the ref “I hit one on him while you weren’t looking”? That’s just a new level of lazy.

Bret Hart was technically one of the best wrestlers of all time. He was flawless in his performance, but relied too heavily on that aspect vs building his character. Whereas a guy like Steve Austin was a bad technical wrestler but his persona was brilliant.

not reaLTED but I thought Hart's heel angle at the end of his WWF time was hilarious.
