So maybe that's true but I believe Bischoff's account on the podcast is closer to truth than anything Bret Hart would have you believe.

I have mixed opinions on this
I don’t think Bret had a long enough run in wcw to be the man despite title reigns. The Goldberg spot did him in

At the same time he was the 400,000 dollar champ in the wwf when the business was down as a whole

Well at least it beats jim herd wanting to change ric flair’s gimmick and make him Spartacus and wear an ear ring

He did bring money but not the amount Vince desired

But the whole industry was on the downward trend at the time

83 weeks is a great podcast. The 83 weeks of winning in the ratings was some awesome tv for young HBT

Definitely this. It's already taken over as my #1 go to podcast. And I totally side with what Eric said about Bret, not just because he has no reason to BS anymore, but because his story has been told the same by several others.

Can’t argue with that

Somedays I wish the territory days were back and kayfabe was still a real thing. But people are a lot smarter now.

I still watch raw and smack down but I can’t watch the full show like I used to. I do like watching new japan when it comes on axs tv on Friday nights

He was his biggest fan/mark no doubt

But to wrestle for 20 plus years and never hurt anyone other than the typical bumps bruises and general aches is incredible.

he car and sulk while Bret was signing away. Pro wrestlers are, in general, some of the biggest lowlifes there are. I wouldn’t leave my gf alone in the same room with him, but he was good with the fans.

Interesting. Can you name some guys that stand out to you in both good and bad ways? We all know Scott Hall, Nash, Ric Flair, and HBK were real pieces of shite back then.

Bret Hart was cool in the late 80s/early 90s but his persona never evolved and was real stale and boring by the late 90s.

I’d agree with this. Bret was a fantastic IC champ (when it actually meant something and wwf wasn’t oversaturated with meaningless titles like today) or tag team champ. Just didn’t really evolve with the attitude/nwo shifts of the companies.

Like I said already, Backlund and OMG were two of the “good” ones who stayed away from all the bad stuff.

Shawn Michaels is in a league of his own as far as douchebaggery. Jannetty isn’t too far behind. Like you said, Hall was really bad. A lot of adulterers - Rey Misterio, DiBiase, even Bret. Some other POS are New Jack, Dynamite Kid, Hogan, Hardcore Holly, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Virgil, Scott Steiner, JBL, Jerry Lawler... I could go on and on.

I've actually heard a lot of stories of Buff being really cool. Never met him so it's all second hand.
