quote:

10/4 Good buddy, got a single stack Mack with a shack in the back
Headin' for the station with a pack on my back,
I'm tired of transportation in the back of a hack,
I love to hear the rhythm of the clickity-clack
And hear the lonesome whistle, see the smoke from the stack
And pal around with democratic fellows named Mac
So, take me right back to the track, Jack

You reach your destination, but alas and alack!
You need some compensation to get back in the black,
You take your morning paper from the top of the stack,
And read the situation from the front to the back,
The only job that's open needs a man with a knack,
So put it right back in the rack, Jack

Gonna settle down by the railroad track,
Live the life of Riley in a beaten-down shack,
So when I hear a whistle I can peak through the crack,
And watch the train a rollin' when they're ballin' the jack,
I just love the rhythm of the clickity clack,
So, take me right back to the track, Jack

Negative. I'm not dumb enough for a lease and the market has been awful for owner ops for the last decade. Now that freight rates are rising because of the eld mandate it's starting to be viable again.

My neighbor is a truck driver and he says barely anyone talks on them any more. And when they do they're usually dicks..

I had one on my previous truck, and a fair amount of them did. Not a lot though. No space for one in the new truck, so it is sitting idle in my closet

Who were the people that had Richard Pryor “on the video” in 1977? Not us. We had him on vinyl, though.

Nice Jackson Browne reference. Love that song.

The fancy rock star tour busses had beta-max tape players.

I only had his BiCentennel Nxxxxr LP. Pretty sure I still have it.

He had a very short lived variety show on NBC that year

The word "video" was still kind of arcane at that time. It wouldn't become commonplace until the rise of the VCR in the early 80s.

Yeah it's a shame but there not a whole lot of use for it during the summer side from people bitching at each other for doing dumb stuff. I still call out traffic backups and wrecks, like yesterday going around the watermelon 500 and screaming for people to go north since Georgia DOT decided to shut down 3 out of the 4 lanes to pave 1 lane of the loop between 75 and 85.

Calhoun, LA had two stores at the same exit off I-20 for years. Allen's CB Shop and Calhoun C B Shop. I think I read where one closed.

Both used to do repairs, and sell radios.

Calhoun's Facebook page has some pictures posted.
