No, it was because there was an engineer in the plant who went to school in Texas, developed a taste for Tabasco, and brought Tabasco sauce to the plant with him when he took a job there. Other people at the plant liked it and the company started ordering it for the cafeteria.

Not something seen on tables around the world.
Others have mentioned smuckers jelly and jack Daniel’s while both can be found in restaurants or bars around the world, neither are on tables regularly.
