Have you tried enrolling in SmartBill? I usually pay straight through the secure pdf.
I do agree, the water company is living in the 1800's. Any form of communication is impossible.

I assume you printed and mailed the form with a voided check
Glad to see old BR water is using the same technology they had in place back when I set up auto-draft in the mid 90s.

Yeah, it let me enroll but still no bill. I tried to re-enroll just now and it said "thanks for enrolling! please confirm!" which I did. But I'm laughing that it even let me enroll when I already enrolled and confirmed the account..
Nothing in spam folder.
I'll just try to pay again in a couple weeks I guess.

Lived in my new house for three years when i figured out they were over billing me significantly. Their accounting people reviewed and confirmed I had been over billed for the three year period every month. 36 over payments. They then announced they would be happy to credit me for the last twelve months of overpayment and no more. Actually told me I could get a lawyer and sue them if I wanted. Just incompetent assholes.

I think after I first signed up it took a bill cycle for it to actually work. I would honestly do nothing, it's not as if they are reachable.

For the sewer charge?

It just does that sometimes. It happens to me on occasion. If you check back tomorrow it might be working fine.

Also, I paid mine yesterday that way on the website. So it's not due to corona.

They run this business like it is the year 2000.
When you pay online, you have to use Western Union to pay.
So, it's run more like the year 1880.

You’ll have to speak to a lady on the phone and pay a reconnect fee

Their 'Smart Bill' may be worse than the auto-draft...
Every month I would open that stupid pdf that looked like something a college intern threw together and realize that was the best effort of a utility company I relied on daily.

Like most government created monopolies, they give no f$&ks because frankly, they don’t have to. There are no consequences and zero accountability. Government agencies, government sponsored monopolies, and utility companies are the only groups that make you jump through hoops just to give them money. It’s absurd.
Also BR mail is ultra shitty.

Oh don’t worry. Their office people might not be at work, but the guy riding around in the little truck with the spud wrench is on the job and ready to cut you off. Generally on a Friday afternoon.
I wonder how many residents of BR know that the BR Water Company is not a municipal service, but a for profit, family run business. They take a public resource that doesn’t cost them a dime and sell it to us (and now surrounding parishes) for as much as they can convince the PSC to let them charge. Guaranteed rate recovery for any expenditures they make on infrastructure or operating expense, plus a guaranteed profit. It’s the biggest racket in town, and has been for many many years. I think what they are doing to fleece us would almost make Edwin blush.

Even better, the most important utility. If you are homebound and their service is interrupted and they can't (won't) help you, you might be dead within 5 or 6 days.
Let that percolate a little.

Probably not. They likely paid Edwin for the privilege
Posted on 4/22/20 at 4:07 pm to Icansee4miles
Is yours generally expensive? Ours is usually about $80 for water, sewer and trash which I find to be pretty reasonable.
We paid more when we lived in LP for all 3 although they were separate companies. And they only got our trash once per week.

That’s a fair comment. Have to see how far back they go. I’ve heard Phil Witter used to have his finger in it, but also heard they somehow screwed him out of his share. Another neat fact. All this lobbying Hayes Town has been doing to force industry to quit using groundwater? Guess who his bff is? Eugene Owen, owner of BR Water Company. The next generation owner of this monopoly is Eugene’s son....Hayes Owen, named after his godfather, Hayes Town. The more you know....

I have monthly auto-withdrawal. They didn't take out last month so I called them. They said I paid and my bank fricked up. My bank said no withdrawal happened and they fricked up...I said frick it. Got 2 different withdrawals for them a few days ago.

I always liked those western union commercials. I remember being pretty little and wondering how they could get money anywhere in 15 minutes- I wanted to ride on that airplane!!
