This is a huge problem. They back door funding to bullshite and the taxpayers have nothing to show for it but a higher tax burden.

You're gonna tell me the lottery wasn't sold to the voters as a fix for education? Or do you believe the legislature kept funding at the same level once the lottery was up and running?
I don't care how it was sold to the public, the bill didn't allocate any funds to any specific education budget, nor any education budget at all. It all went to the general fund.
In 2004, they finally passed a bill that did allocate funds to education.
Again, you're upset because people didn't read what they were voting for. Just like you have no clue what the proposed gas tax bill comprised of.
Hell, its posted a few posts up and you probably won't read it. You have no clue why you should support or oppose it.
Like I said: a political memehead who only spews out talking points.

Actually, you're right. It hasn't stayed at the same level.
More funding actually goes to education now then it did then.
Btw: why are you so upset about the lottery?
The only people who pay that are the ones who use it. Unless you are a degenerative gambler, why would that tax bother you?

And since he's in West Baton Rouge Parish I don't know why he's complaining about CATS or BREC.
If he's so unhappy he should leave the state.

No, people are upset because our officials don't do their jobs.
There's no way the COA tax should have been put on the ballot, there is no way they should have finagled that CATS tax and there is no way we should be building bike paths to L'auberge and giving up a million dollars in BRAVE money and building the TRAM and Pecue exchange and doing nothing to fix I 10 at the bridge.
We see funds going to pet projects instead of critical projects. We see taxes getting passed year after year and more and more money being wasted.

The lottery is almost like a voluntary tax. Sure you can win, but the odds are really bad.
The lottery takes resources from citizens, takes dollars from the public for govt. but unlike casinos creates few jobs.
Both are gambling, but casinos make more sense.

You just posted a bunch of city/parish stuff and ended it with a state/fed thing.
What does city/parish spending have to do with state?
And did you go to council meetings to voice your opposition to any of those proposed projects?

What do you mean "almost"? Are people being forced to play?

I have no issue with the lottery. Fun to drop a couple of bucks now and then. My issue is that it's another example of politicians misleading the voters about how the revenue generated will be used. Just like the gas tax.
And I point to CATS and BREC golf courses as anecdotal evidence of more government mismanagement. EBR has shitty roads and wants to raise property taxes to fix them. Yet they bleed money on things like CATS and golf courses that aren't profitable. Let's review priorities again. It's indicative of the mismanagement with tax dollars at all levels statewide.
I don't leave this state because it's my home and I want it to be better. But I don't want it to be better on the backs of taxpayers who are already having nearly half of their income confiscated by lousy politicians. It's a shame people like you two want to perpetuate the cycle of misuse and abuse instead of seeking a better alternative. It does help explain why this place will probably never change and realize it's potential

Are you happy to report that only half of the tax would be guaranteed to the listed projects?
Posted on 7/23/17 at 10:29 pm to tigerinthebueche
And how many more Greenlight Plans will we need? The way EBR and the state works, we'll soon be told that we need Greenlight 3 to maintain the roads built with Greenlight 1.

Well now I know you are retarded and lazy because if you would read the fricking bill you would see how EVERY frickING DOLLAR is spent. The 50% is dedicated for the mega projects with the rest allocated to different road projects.
Dumbass.

I read your link before I posted and never saw where it said where 59% of the money was going.
Your post said 50% was going to the mega projects but what does that mean because the link you provided appears to spend money in less critical areas than around BR.
And btw, I guess I am s dumb arse for accepting what you posted as fact.

It's a state-wide tax.
Believe me, there are areas around the state with much more dire needs than BR. We have traffic issues, they have crumbling roads and bridges.
You can find priority info from DOTD and see why some places come up first on the list.

The tax would have been for the whole state genius. And apparently you can't read. Try it again and read slowly.

This isn't going to happen. Not in Louisiana, not anytime soon.
It will take years, maybe even decades for Louisiana to get it together. And by then, the other states that already do things correctly will still be miles ahead of Louisiana.
