Tolls are racist.

And how else are politicians going to funnel money to cronies through "studies" that take so long to execute that the data is irrelevant by the time it's delivered?

Dafuq???

Tell that to all the white people who drive in North Dallas every day.

NTTA has over 3 million tags issued. If Texas relied on the state government to provide roads instead of private entities we would be Louisiana.

However, Louisiana is much smaller than Texas with really only two major cities. So state government sponsored roads could be feasible, but Louisiana is so far behind infrastructure speaking, y'all really need a private entity to take over.

The same company who built the Texas Horshoe in Dallas is now taking over completely rebuilding US 67 I believe. It's another route to Dallas from the south. There are also rumblings about completely redoing I-30.

Bets are all this gets done before Louisiana ever builds a new bridge or loop in BR.

You just posted a bunch of city/parish stuff and ended it with a state/fed thing.

Everyone of the projects I listed includes City-Parish money, or it's about the City-Parish spending federal grants.

And so now you have to go yo Council meetings to criticize officials? Why is that?

Btw, if you were attending all these Council meetings you'd know that the City-Parish was involved in everything in my post,

Me thinks your sarcasm meter is broken.

If this were to happen here, it would be a brother-in-law deal which would cost the taxpayers a ton of money. It sucks

I've lost count on how many studies have been commissioned in BR for traffic issues. Yet here we are.

If the priority is truly based on need then the BR area would have more projects in category A Sherlock.

That's what I'm saying, but you have your head so far up DOTD's arse you can't see it.

The idiots were out in ATL Sunday also. The northern perimeter was shut down (6 lanes) bc two cars couldn't navigate the Sunday ease. Then it spilled over into this morning with the rain, every major road into downtown was gridlocked. 45 min commute turned into 2 hours.

To be quite frank it needs to happen period.

Louisiana needs to be in full catch up mode.

Large corporations will continue to look over LA until it fixes it's infrastructure and workforce issues.

Which it will never do until it convinces its citizens that the government will not waste all of its resources. Why would any reasonable adult trust the Louisiana legislature with anything at all? Give me complete government spending prioritization overhaul, and prove that every dollar already collected is being spent properly and efficiently. This state has an incredible amount institutional bloat that costs it millions, if not billions ever year. So cut that garbage, then you can ask me for more.

I thought about demanding a new state constitution too, but that would require the absolute fools already working there to rewrite it so..... I'll pass

Atlanta services about 10 million, Baton Rouge less than a million.

So you need to ask yourself this:

What's worse, an extra 200 a year or no jobs and more and more people getting on government welfare?

Because this is the fork in the road.

Just pay attention. Several sources were letting people know the old bridge was going to be closed this weekend. We all know the traffic sucks but what happened this weekend wasn't some random thing.

I read that a 5 mill property tax in Baton Rouge would costs someone with a $200,000 home about $68 more per year.

That's actually not bad IF the projects actually address traffic issues. They haven't released the list of projects included with the proposal yet or their priority. They have to be very specific in their proposal, noting exactly where the enhancement start (1/8th mile east of this intersection to that intersection) and the format of the changes (i.e., new 4 lane curb and gutter street with continuous center turn lane and 5' wide sidewalks), and the expected costs.

Some of the biggest cluster fricks in the region are state and federal highways - and I doubt seriously that the BTR plan will address routes like Highway 61, US 190, I-10 etc.

If we build these toll roads or any new roads for that matter, who will we pay to do studies for the next 50 years? The study money has to go somewhere.

Airport expansion
Comite Diversion Canal

I'm sure we can come up with many projects that we are taxed for but will never actually happen.

Allow a private firm to do the work period. No studies needed.

In TX, NTTA & HCRTA are private entities.

That gas tax would have funded numerous projects. People use the excuse " I dont think any of it would have gone to the right places", but the fact is, people just didnt want to pay it.

Nope, the fact is people are tired of paying for Sen. Tboy's brother in law for doing ANOTHER useless study. We all know what needs to be done and could have done it twice with the money these slimy assholes funnel to their kinfolk and buddies for "road studies". Just do the damn thing already. Or better yet, start it and then put a tax on the ballot to finish it. Show us something tangible.

Ok, you got me. And a relief route such as a new bridge would not help at all.

Knowing the delay would be there does not change the need to find a solution.
