As you can see, the only councilmembers who voted against it were Dwight Hudson and Denise Amoroso.

Looks like the council was all in for the sales tax as opposed to the property tax.

I’m not upset. Roads are one of the few things I’m willing to extend a sales tax for.

It’s much easier to swallow now that it isn’t property tax.

The vast majority of the public who commented said they were in favor of this.

frick Loupe. I emailed his office expressing my opposition to this and got nary a response. Not even ‘frick you, I’m voting for it.’

The planned roads seem like a good list. I would likely support this.

I thought Denise Amoroso said she was going to vote for it?

She wasn’t even one of the councilmembers who spoke on where they stood with approving to bring the plan to the voters before the entire council casted their vote. I was honestly surprised myself that she was against this.

She was quoted in the BR Business Report yesterday.

Likewise, Councilwoman Denise Amoroso—appointed to fill her late husband Buddy Amoroso’s seat in July—says she’s inclined to support the proposal. Though her husband did not vote for the mayor’s previous pitch, she says he was leaning toward supporting this one.

“Something needs to be done about the traffic,” she says. “I know we all hate taxes, but something needs to be done.”

Shouldn’t a road tax only be paid for at the gas pump?

At least it's a sales tax and not a property tax

I don't think the plan is part of any regional strategy, it's more of a political plan, and it's full of projects that aren't specific, aren't roads and are more PC than necessary.

Without a regional plan why are EBR taxpayers going to widen state and Federal Highways just to stop at our borders?

Why do much on technology, sidewalks, landscaping and enhancements? That's over 25% of the plan and it is very nebulous as to what it's for. Why a thirty year tax to purchase technology that will be outdated on just several years.

Taxpayers are already paying a half cent tax on a road that promised technology, was not completed and doesn't expire until 2030.

And we just shot down a road tax for a more modest plan in 2016, we stopped another smaller plan Broome put forward earlier and now she's back with a bigger, more expensive plan. Has she proven that she can be trusted, that her friends won't be hired for engineering and consulting, and is anyone confident she and her administration can handle this project?

I don't think so.

We pay too much in taxes now to BREC, the Library, to the COA. Trim those down some, trim this plan down, think things through and then maybe it would make sense becsuse we all know we need roads in the right places.

Look dood. Chandler is a busy guy and has a lot going on.

I’ve known him over 34 years and found him to respond once he’s carefully studied an issue. You don’t really want a half-cocked answer, do you?

That helps no one.

Cool your jets.

Shouldn’t your response be more like a “nada”?
