Is there any possibility of St. George getting their own electricity provider, such as Cleco?

Not likely. Electricity isn't based on city, its based on transmission lines. Parts of the city of St George already have DEMCO though.

Honest question.

Why would Entergy elect to eat a fee that is primarily going towards crime prevention?

Entergy nickel and dimes you for a lot of things, but this one does make so sense to me. Why should they pay this fee?

It’s considered a franchise tax, not a fee. Entergy is electing to pass it on to customers.

I'm glad Baton Rouge is getting a new parish/president. Sid might be able to delay a change in that form of government.

Just days after voters elected him East Baton Rouge mayor-president, Sid Edwards has already put some pieces together to help him take over leadership of Louisiana's most-populated parish.

A third name of the team was also announced, who Glasper said will be a big part of representing voices in north Baton Rouge. District 5 Metro Council member Darryl Hurst, a Democrat, will also have a role on the team. Hurst said he is optimistic the new administration will move Baton Rouge forward, and thinks the key to doing so is focusing on one geographic area in particular. "We've always focused on so many areas, but if we just fix North Baton Rouge, we fix our entire city," Hurst said. "We fix crime, we fix household median income, we can fix education."

so another tax on the contributing members of society in Baton Rouge directly due to the non-contributing members?

par for the course.

You know why

Because the fee is already included on electricity bills inside of Baton Rouge?

Entergy is building $3.2 billion worth of turbines for META data center. I'm sure they don't need that $5 fee from BR residents.

That would lead to the old infinite money glitch. Bills are paid by the gov in the areas with the most crime, increase the tax, the government pays itself more.

Either solves the problem by creating infinite money or causes a glitch and we all get frozen in time
