Is looking at porn on the computers still frowned upon? Call me when they aren’t so uptight.

"Reduce pain point interactions" meaning having to tell a black person they owe a fine because they were unable to return a book when it was due.

I went to a library recently. No lore late fees but apparently I checked out a book for my then wife (no pics) about 20 years ago. I had to pay for the book before I could checkout a book for my nephew. fricking bitch is still costing me money.

My town just built a new library. It’s pretty damn useless.

So did mine. I went ahead and fixed that.

It's part of an effort to "reduce barriers for teens and adults that need the Library's resources whenever and wherever they are," officials said in a news release.

It means having to actually pay for a good or service.

That make sense.

"The library also wants to reduce pain point interactions with the public and be a welcoming place where access to materials is equitable."

This doesn't, and is actually more likely the real reason for the change given the politics of most librarians.

As an old fart I have not been paying late fees ever since I turned 60, yrs ago. That's been the library's policy. But curious: I recently turned in a book with a, literal, postage stamp-sized food stain on the last page of a 300+ page book. They told me last week I can either pay $30 for the book & keep it or just pay the $30. Will this new policy change that?

It sounds like when you go to return a late book and they charge you a late fee that its so painful to the person returning the late book that they might as well take the charge away.

Theres a certain group of people in this country(cough cough white libs) that think another certain group of people in this country cant do anything for themselves and need to be coddled from cradle to the grave.

Def not racist though

Probably just hoping people bring the books back instead of keeping them because they don't want to pay late fees. Not a bad strategy I guess....

That’s great, I wish ours got more. I have a card and I’ve checked out three or four books since it opened earlier this year. I’ve only been one time when there was any other patron in the library at all, and that person was just loitering in a sitting area the entire time I was there.

On the other hand, the library always has at least three, usually four, staff members “working.” I don’t want anyone to lose their job, but it’s really just a complete waste of financial resources.
