ETA: La Rouge Garden

Me and my girlfriend at the time met up with my Dad at La Rouge gardens one night for some steaks.

Daddy was drinking a beer out of a fish bowl. He was feeling pretty good as me and my girlfriend were leaving and he said, "Jody...if your mother asks if I have been drink (he wasn't supposed to be drinking)...I don't want you to lie, I want you to be honest...and tell her I HAD ONE BEER!"

That place was awesome.

Do you remember a Steak & Seafood place called Bonnano's on Airline?
nope, but I didn't eat out much in the '80s. First half I was a broke kid, second half I was a broke college student

Europes Pizza down Airline. Steak and Ale on Sherwood at Florida.

I was wondering how long before someone mentioned Steak and Ale. I worked there as a back up cook, while in high school. The manager only hired nice looking waitresses so it was incentive for me to work lots of hours.

Europe’s was one of my favorite restaurants. A little trivia about Chef Paul Lapodote (the owner) is that he previously worked as a chef on the Andrea Dorea before it sank. He used to close up his restaurant and go home to Italy each summer. I still have one of his old menus somewhere. It also said that he was “knighted” back in Italy. Interesting guy, to say the least.

Peking Gardens- Mr. Ho was hilarious. We were hammered in there one night and he was in the process of throwing us out and one of my friends told him to shut up because we beat them in WWII. Ho lost his mind screaming "no you didn't a-hole, that Japan".

Still laugh about that night and it that was in 1986.

I remember that. Broodmoor seemed like such a rich people's neighborhood then.

I remember the first time I went into that Albertson's. I couldn't believe such luxury...

I remember that place. We went there when I was a kid. That was a nice restaurant back then. I remember go to the Ralph and Kacoos across from Boats Unlimited. That was before the one at Mall of La.

Anybody said Marlin's Pizza in Prairieville yet? At the entrance of Autumn View neighborhood. Better than any of them. Including Gatti's.

In the '80s Prairieville might as well have been Antarctica

I worked for an AC/Refrigeration repair guy and one his clients was Calendar’s. After being in that kitchen, there is no way in hell I would have eaten there. I’m surprise the State Board never shut them down.

You wouldn't want to look in the kitchen at any of your favorite restaurants. A friend's wife is a health inspector, and I've banned her from talking about any of her local inspection trips. Working as a waiter, it's nothing new to me, but out of sight out of mind.
