For the part I viewed, he never made it victim-centric, just criminal-centric.

He is unfit to be in leadership.

Q: Can this problem be solved? We know White people and money can't do it, because that's been tried.
Starting to think this riddle doesn't have an answer.

I took him to mean Black "families" are the initial cause of the trauma then they have to endure Black culture, Black school, etc. Tough burden to bear.

Since all these folks are aware of the problem, it is heartwarming to see how so many in "the community" have stepped up.

I mean, donating TIME, donating MONEY. MENTORING young kids. HELPING out families in need. Putting OTHERS before themselves.

I know when I volunteer for shiat where free shiat is being given away, it's always 100% people in "the community" donating products, time, money, people.

Actually, I can't think about a time I ever saw a "community" member as a volunteer at anything we've ever done, from food kitchens to christmas toys to playground construction/cleanup, to whatever.

I agree.

The problem is that the police, the school board, the courts, the "programs", the churches, the non-profits, the task forces, the committees, and whatever else they throw at this won't change anything. Unless these people actively choose to change things, it's just going to get worse. And they zero interest in doing the work required to bring real change.

Last year was the 3rd highest homicide rate in EBR history, down from the previous year which was the highest homicide rate ever. They use these numbers to say how effective they are in combatting crime, but they're still well above historic numbers.

Ever notice immigrants that come here from absolute terrible situations like generational poverty, apartheid, violent war, somehow manage to come here and not become criminals, but succeed better than many native-born people? Wonder why that is….

How do I file a complaint for him calling young african american men black boys? Racism like this has no place in Baton Rouge.
