BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Federal prosecutors have charged a Baton Rouge man who reportedly sold a number of fake documents.

A bill of information filed in the Middle District of Louisiana alleges Tommie Hart sold bank statements, check stubs, W-2 Forms, utility bills, and documents purported to be doctors’ excuses.

According to the charging document, Hart also touted years of experience creating documents that could be used to “bypass complex governmental requirements for the acquisition of any travel or identity documents,” including fake passports, driver’s licenses, and counterfeit Social Security cards.

Federal agents allege that Hart reportedly sold at least 6 fake Social Security cards between April and July of 2022, in violation of federal law.

A federal seizure notice was placed on a website appearing to be connected to Hart and reportedly used by him to build his clientele and sell the documents.

Prosecutors allege that, when the website was functioning, there was a disclaimer noting that the documents were “digital novelty products” for “entertainment or personal use only.”

However, he also advertised the products as documents that customers could use to qualify for credit or to purchase homes and cars, according to the filing.

Looks like he's selling fake document packages for mortgage applications, apartment apps, and credit cards too.

ETA Terminology -
Credit Privacy Number (CPN): A fraudulent number used to conceal a credit history, often advertised as a way to repair credit but is not legitimate.
It is illegal to use Credit Protection Numbers (CPNs) on financial applications. CPNs are essentially false identification numbers, and providing them in place of a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is considered fraud or identity theft.

In the context of finance, "CP" most commonly refers to commercial paper. It's a short-term, unsecured debt instrument issued by corporations to raise money for a limited period, typically for 30 to 270 days. Think of it as a corporate equivalent of a short-term loan

If he put all that entrepreneurial energy into doing something legal he’d probably be pretty successful.
