Love to see tax dollars paying for convicted felons' educations while in prison.

Its only about 100 times cheaper than the money we spend on them when they go back to prison because we valued their slave labor more than their rehabilitation.

Yeah me either, you’re taking a sidebar conversation about prison reform out of context.

Carry on.

I met him in February of this year at my one of my nephew’s confirmation sessions at St George. I listened to him make his talk then read about what he did. Having met the guy, I would have never imagined he could do such a thing. He served his time in prison and is now devoting his life to helping others. He acknowledges that the reason he was released on early parole is because of the people he knew and most importantly his skin color. If you ever get a chance to hear him speak you should. It was quite enlightening and definitely a test of faith. If I were that girls family member, it would be extremely hard to forgive a person that did the thing he did. You can find a speech of his on YouTube.

I’d be willing to bet one side has much higher parole rates

Of course they do, but he was the first person to receive parole in this state under those circumstances. According to him it was no coincidence that he came from an affluent family and he was white.

Wait, so in this hypothetical, if he accidentally ran a red light as a minor and killed someone you could somewhat understand being released after 20 years in Angola?

Absolutely not what I said. I could understand a juvenile being released early and juveniles don’t go to Angola silly.

Yeah, sure...

Incorrect, giving them life sentences without the benifit of parole is unconstitutional.
That’s kind of an adult sentence.

I'm not sure why when people post stuff like this, others doubt them. Rage is a funny, unpredictable thing. Blind, blood rage is an even bigger animal. Humans are capable of such heinous things, much like the shitbag in this story. Taking out an animal that tortured and burned to death a beloved family member isn't a surprise at all.

If he did that to my daughter I'm pretty sure I couldn't keep myself from doing the same thing to him.

I won't be surprised when I hear he ends up being violently murdered.

In fact I'll be surprised if he doesn't.

I hate to wish harm on anyone but the guy should be living his life in shame not seeking publicity and speaking at rotary clubs. He's a pompous a-hole that needs a good arse kicking.

Bingo.

This animal and his family are giving the middle finger to the young girl he killed and her family. He’s peddling his story getting attention, when he should be doing the opposite if he had any real remorse and respect for the lives he ruined.

So the," without parole" part didn't count?

Good question. Off ma head thinking of people who done did the intentional murder:

Sean Gillis(executed)
Todd Wessinger(deathrow)
Clay Logan(paroled recently from Hunts)
Calvin Williams(life in Angola)
Chad Cameron(life in Angola)
Kyle Manda(life in Angola)
