people need a license and pass a strict test to own a pitbull. Higher IQ should be required or get rid of the dog altogether

Car crashes kill more children than all dog attacks. Are you going to keep your child from riding in cars?

Nice idiotic argument.

It's harder to live life not driving places than it is NOT being around a pit bull.

Sad story.

I don't understand why anyone would allow a kid to climb a fence and trespass in a yard. Especially a yard with a dog.

If they had Beware of Dog and No Trespass signs, that kid's family is most likely fricked as a matter of law

ETA: although the tender years doctrine may get it to a jury

It'd really be something if a boy was killed by a pit bull without being attacked.

shite did happen. Now her kid is dead.

No, I didn't regularly trespass as a kid. My parents would discipline me if I did.

Maybe I'm overly protective of my own 6 yr old girl. But if she's outside either myself or my wife is going to be outside with her. If we have to go in for anything, she comes with us. And in subdivision where we live, the most dangerous/aggressive dog close by is a 10 lb Jack Russell terrier that lives on the street behind us.

You can't be serious with that shite. We need car transportation to get to school, the store, social engagements. You need a pitbull because it makes you feel like a man?

I've always thought you were logical. Maybe not.

False. You can't sign away liability.

There are a few "you didn't know they troll all the time" posters here, and I can't keep up with it. Maybe he's one of them

So it's more about convenience than the safety of your hypothetical child?

Should they be banned as well? Or is your personal vendetta the most important?

Any breed that has a rich history of mauling people to death should not be allowed in society. Personal feelings aside.

How many 6 yr old children do you think can comprehend the meaning of that word or the possible repercussions of it?

Well I did. We played in the ditch that ran behind lots of houses. I guess technically we weren't trespassing because it was a public servitude.

So you are arguing that this 6 year old deserved to be killed by a dog because he hopped a fence. Got it.

Horses kill 20 people per year in the U.S. alone. Why haven't we banned them?

Are you discounting his experience because you think pit-bulls are cool? What is the harm in eradicating a breed that we created? Dogs serve people. They exist only because we allow them to. Please provide an argument as to why this excessively aggressive breed should be allowed to continue.

I'm discounting his experience. I'm just making a point. Bad shite happens everyday but we can't go around banning everything that causing injury or death.

If we swapped out pit bull for something else the narrative would be totally different. If the kid blew his head off with an assault glock you wouldn't be on your soap box yelling about banning hand guns. "If it saves just one life" is a dangerous ideal.

What we are seeing is a writer using the term "pit bull" to elicit an emotional response. It matters not if he or she is even correct in that statement. Even if the article is wrong, and the dog was a boxer, no one will issue a correction. It will go down in history as another pit bull attack, yet there is no proof.

I could make the same argument with accidental gun deaths involving children if that makes you feel better.

You don't need to own a gun just like you don't need to own a pitbull.
