It was a fricking blast in 1996 in Atlanta. Not the event itself but the hustle. Atlanta is, if nothing else, a city slap full of folks on the hustle....about half the population hangs drywall, runs a moving company and on Sunday runs a church...everybody is on the hustle in Atlanta. There is a reason traffic is snarled up at 10 am midweek and it ain't folks going to 9-5 jobs. It is the reason Home Depot started in Atlanta...everybody in town is some kind of contractor. The shite we pulled is legendary.

It was so bad a Russian Circus got robbed of hundreds of thousands of dollars by a noted city official in Athens and the community passed the collection plate to get them home. The city official never even got the stink eye from anyone LOL.

My dad and I made about $40k each renting vending tents, generators, putting up temporary power and lights and tables to folks on the hustle....completely legit on our part, we were looked upon poorly by others doing the same thing because we only rented the shite, we did not rent the spot that we set them up on, spots that did not belong to us LOL. That was very common.

For every tax dollar spent hosting the 96 Olympics those on the hustle in Atlanta made $5....and they were a diverse crowd, from panhandlers to AOOC executives anybody who tried made some serious money....most of it through some sort or activity which would have been a crime in 1995 or 1997 but was seen as entrepreneurial spirit in 1996. It was grand if you admire carnies, hucksters and con men.

The truly amazing thing is its been nearly 30 years and some of those scams are ongoing LOL. If you see a street vendor in Atlanta selling something under a red and white striped "tent" odds are pretty good they were issued a permit, and not a cheap one, in 1996 to do so and have been doing so ever since despite multiple efforts from the city to enforce the 30 day nature of those permits. Most of them have gotten too old or have died so they aren't as common as they once were but there are still a few around.....

It would be sweet karma if they ended up fighting each other
