Our cities have gone to shite

quote:

A man is speaking out after he said he was sucker-punched by one of a large group of juveniles on bicycles while he was driving in Boston's South End Tuesday afternoon.

Boston police said they have received reports of the assault, which happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Tremont Street near the intersection of Union Park Street.

Koffi Ballo told NewsCenter 5's Shaun Chaiyabhat that he is the victim of that assault. Ballo said that dozens of teenagers on bicycles swarmed Tremont Street and began surrounding cars, including his own, and boxing him and other drivers in.

Video of the scene shared with NewsCenter 5 shows a large group of young people on bicycles surrounding a red car and a woman shouting at some of the youths.

"So I looked out my window and heard a lot of noise, saw a lot of younger kids on bikes," said witness Brooks Wait. "It looked like a couple of women started fighting, initially."

Witnesses said the altercation between the two women became a melee, and that one woman confronted the group of teenagers.

Ballo said he tried to leave the scene when things got heated, but things escalated when he asked one of the riders to move his bicycle.

"I said: 'Please, can you move the bicycle for me?' He started insulting me," Ballo explained.

According to Ballo, that is when he was suddenly punched in the face through the open driver's side window of his car.

This is why I always hate the Critical Mass assholes who would do “bike parades” blocking traffic.

Having a right to ride =\= having a right to disrupt traffic due to acting like assholes.

Kind of like protesters can protest but if they step in the road to do so, they start losing public support and potentially take flight if it is, say, a busy Seattle interstate where they are on a blind curve and the drivers can’t see them and slow down in time.

Something similar happened to me 20 years ago in Denver. I was driving home from work during the summer and had to run an errand so I cut through a hispanic neighborhood.

There were a bunch of teenagers hanging out around a car, so I just went around the car and pulled up to the stop sign. Next thing I knew, there was a kid next to my car on the driver's side. I thought he was going to ask me something but he punched me in the face and tried to open my car door.

Thankfully he didn't knock me out so I took off and the car behind me took off after me but I was able to shake them by going the wrong way down a one way street.

horseshite. Their is no safe major city in this country and the woke new Mayor is too busy changing names on 300 year old monuments to give a shite about public safety.

It’s not. Regardless of your political beliefs, Boston is a safe city to live.

Sorry guys. My bad.

But seriously, to have that happen in the South End is surprising. That’s a really nice and not cheap part of the city.
