I quite surprised that Morgan City has a soccer team.
I was the keeper for MC's inaugural season. It's crazy how the town demographics have shifted in 20 years. All the Vietnamese have left and MCHS is majority Hispanic now. I saw a young kid wearing a MC baseball shirt in the UREC a while back and asked him if MC was still a baseball school. He said, "No, we sucked. "We're a soccer school now."

Bossier's soccer team is majority Hispanic also, those hombres aren't afraid to through down. It sucks that most will be suspended for the next round game.

What year was that? I went to Franklin High in the late 80's and no one in St. Mary Parish played soccer back then ...lol.

MC's soccer team is probably the school's only bright spot in athletics.
Football, Basketball, and Baseball have been in the dumper as long as I can remember.
All the decent athletes end up at Central Catholic or make the trip to Vandy or EDW.
I remember one year MC High hired a new football coach and he forgot to get physicals for the kids and was shown the door pretty quickly.

2004. We didn't get a swim team until 2003.

Bossier High kids have always been a tough group, other side of the railroad tracks.

They won 4 football games total when I was there. Baseball was always good. I'm not sure when that went downhill.

Best bench clearing, parking lot, band, student and crowd brawl was when JFK Nola played at Barbe back in 2003

So many of those guys had no idea what to even do.
I bet out of the 20 something boys, 2-4 of them have actually been in a fight.
It’s so funny watching guys try to be tough that have never even taken a punch

I remember back in 1997 when South Lafourche played Shaw or West Jeff in the playoffs for football. They were losing with just a few seconds left in the game and someone said a South Lafourche player said a derrogatory word to the opposing team and a fight broke out and evidently a gun shot was heard.
I was in the band and remember having to go to the buses and ride back to Lafourche Parish with a JPSO escort to Hahnville where LPSO took over. It was a Thursday night game. This was before deputies started doing escorts to football games.
We then had to travel to Barbe and got our butts kicked.
That spring however South Lafourche did win the state championship in basketball and had a few track honors.
I graduated a year later, when we made runner up in Basketball. Those were the Ross Chouest and Clarence Moore Days of South Lafourche Basketball.

Bossier and Morgan City
Wow! Now there’s a significant cultural discrepancy if I have ever seen one.

There werent that many hispanics in all of Bossier in the 1990s.
There have always been many Hispanics in Bossier at the Shreveport Barksdale Bridge vicinity and going north up on Barksdale Blvd my entire life going back to the 80s.

They are scheduled to play the #1 seed, University Lab, next. They were probably done anyway.
