I had a black lab once that was like that, we lived on a river in FL, we had a doggie door and he would come and go as he pleased, every morning he would go into the river and swim down about four houses and say hello to a neighbors blonde lab that was kept in a "habitat" and walk down the street home, other than that he would never leave and I swear if he was in the house and I said "go get 777 jr. up" he would go to his room and wake him up, could also say now go wake your sister up, he'd go do that, or I could just say go to so and so's room and he would go to the correct room, very smart dog, was never destructive, his only vice was that he would absolutely kill himself fetching anything thrown, would do that till he dropped, he could also catch anything thrown at his direction
