Asked on the travel board, and evidently all those guys actually work for a living.

I've got a trip to Shreveport coming up after the first of the year and Boomtown is advertising a ridiculously low rate. I'll basically be all over northwest Louisiana for a few days and just need a place to sleep, shower, and store a suitcase. Any reason I should avoid this place in particular?

No. It's fine. It's one of the lower level casinos, but still better than a Courtyard Marriott or something like that.

Also extremely safe and convenient and has on-site restaurant/bars.

The wife and I were going to be driving through a couple of years ago and decided to spend a couple nights at the Horseshoe as that used to be the pinnacle of Shreveport.

It had gone downhill and was pretty shitty. We walked down to the Margarittaville one which was brand new and seemed a lot nicer.

FWIW, if you’re just looking for a decent place to crash why the hell would you go to a casino hotel and deal with all the extra stuff?

Negative. I'd stay at the Hilton Shreveport. After that, Margarittaville or The Horseshoe.

Boomtown is easily the lowest tier casino in SBC. I haven't been in it in years, so I can't speak first hand, but it's way down on the list of hotels I can think of for recommendations.

If it's mid-week, pretty much any of the other casino hotels should be priced well. The Residence Inn in the Boardwalk is pretty new, and close that area.

Anywhere but a motel would work. A casino, any kind, will for sure be ok.

He's got a special at Boomtown. He wasn't asking for your hotel recs. He was asking specifically about Boomtown.

It's not the best, but it's on par with a chain hotel and is definitely safe, due to it being a casino and on it's own campus.

The issue with lots of chain hotels it that they are on very small footprints in not great areas, so there is riff-raff hanging around and your car could get broken into.

You generally don't have that issue at a casino hotel, due to the large property they are on and the security.

Also, the on-site bar/restaurants keep you from having to venture out if you don't want to.

So, if it makes sense economically, it's a good call, in my opinion.

Where I stay but it’s sad how that Boardwalk has gone down. Used to be nice.

The Residence Inn is next to Horseshoe, it's close but not in the Boardwalk. The hotel in the Boardwalk is a Courtyard.

Yes, my bad

Courtyard is where I’ve stayed a few times.

Poster: I'm going to xyz (hotel, restaurant, bar etc.) on Friday. Can I get some reviews on it?

OT response: 100 replies about other places to go instead.

Never change.

So you chose a casino….
I had to go to Shreveport/bossier sometimes on business and locations of business we’re downtown.. I stayed in casinos.. prices were low.. parking easy.. food ok and to be honest rooms were nice.. I liked to look out my window at the river.. and I grew up in bossier so knew my way around..

With that said sorry you have to go there.. best view of Shreveport/bossier is in your rear view mirror . Hope you make money for your troubles.
