Naw, the Live Aid performance reintroduced how fricking cool Freddie Mercury and Queen was and still is.

It’s a great performance, but the movie misrepresents some things. One, Freddie didn’t even know yet that he had AIDS. Two, it was not a reunion. The band had not split up and had just been on a world tour.

Wikipedia on the movie has a long list of historical innacruacies that the movie employed for dramatic effect. One says

quote:

Queen never split up, so Live Aid was not a reunion.[10] Queen had recently toured in support of their album The Works earlier in the year, playing Brazil, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. The last gig of the tour, in Osaka, occurred eight weeks before Live Aid.[69] The band were not a last-minute addition to Live Aid; they were listed in the event's first public announcement to the press, prior to manager Jim Beach's knowledge of ever agreeing to have the band perform

Wait. Someone last week was here trying to tell us that Drake was the GOAT because of how many time his songs were streamed.

What about Drake??

IDK why you're getting downvoted. That's all very true.

I’m not really a music hipster but it’s always annoying how people love to act like how much they love a band or a singer when a movie comes out or they die.

I agree with this, but Queen really is one of my favorite bands. The movie was okay, the soundtrack was awesome though.

I call it how it is, and people are often fricking idiots and deserve to be called out.

It's a good song. I like some Queen songs but it's not a band I was ever a huge fan of. I'm never driving in my car and think to myself I'm in the mood to jam some Queen.

"Queen is only popular because..."

They've been underestimated and undervalued from the start. They took ridiculous subjects like bicycles and fat chicks and turned them into infectious ear candy. They put out a product that was tight as frick.

That's why they keep getting "rediscovered".

Does it really matter how people are introduced to music, regardless of when it’s released? Is it some sort of rule that I had to like it when it was released and out on the radio?

Positive proof of what hype can do.

The Foo Fighters disagree with you.

Foo Fighters obsessed with Queen

Lady Gaga names herself after Radio Ga Ga.

What's funny is LiveAid had what is also considered the worst performance of all time. It's even hard to find and rarely mentioned. Led Zepplin with Phil Collins on drums.
