Does anyone know what the issue is over?

One issue I heard was that the Gencos have several ice houses around town. They have been paying a flat monthly rate for water. That has been shut off until meters are installed so that they pay per usage. I doubt this is the only issue even if true.

Bogalusa is about as arse backwards as you can get. It's stuck in the old days. It's going to be painful, but changing the old ways and taking a jump into the 19th century is the right step.

As of today, jumping into the 9th century would be an improvement. If Bogalusa wasn’t 20 miles away I wouldn’t care, but we all know how this story goes when people move a little further down the highway. Sooner or later the problems follow them.

Bogalusa and Franklinton are located in the same obscure Louisiana parish, but they might as well be products of two different centuries or two different civilizations... hell, two entirely different dimensions.

I still don’t get your point as to why it would not.

It is pretty much a decoration.

Walmart may want to have a fire caused by vagrants... And move to Franklinton. I remember the JC Penney downtown and the old doughnut shop. This city is gone beyond repair.

It’s seemed like despite the decades past since, that Bogalusa’s genesis as a basically fabricated town has cast an odd sort of parlor on it although not really discernible for a while. Was pretty big deal back in the day even while declining.

Franklinton would be insane to let Walmart come there. Also the Bogalusa Walmarks brings in lots of business from the surrounding area. People don't want to go to Covington or Picayune for groceries so they come to Bogalusa.

The Walmart in Bogalusa has stayed profitable all these years despite being in an economically depressed region.
Inventory shrink rates are relatively low year in year out and it doesn't hurt with Gov. assistance programs
i.e. W.I.C. and S.N.A.P. Franklinton would probably do well with a WM Neighborhood Market.
