My father's family is from Angie La.
I can remember visiting when I was young and going to "town" in Bogalusa was a big deal.

My parents are from Bogalusa and Varnado. We've lived all over but used to go back every year to visit family.
Back in the 70s it seemed OK.....Redbird Ice Cream, snoballs, roast beef poboys at the railroad car restaurant by the paper mill. I was 10 so what did I know.
I'd pick up and move the Zesto out of there and then nuke it from the air.

I think Bogalusa remains the biggest town in the State of Louisiana in which I've never once set foot.

Bogalusa was one of several Louisiana cities under consideration to be the state capitol I’ve read.
