Lockheed is trying to build the F-16 in India.

It probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if they didn't use a large number of different factories who weren't on the same page to make each part.

They've really done well with the 787 since then. It's a wildly popular air frame, and the 787-10 has had a great launch as well.

With those initial battery issues worked out, the Dreamliner has turned out to be a great plane. I'd much rather it to the A330 especially since Air France 447.

Interesting observation on Airbus....they build the A320 (and now the C-series) in Mobile. Much closer to home than Boeing's plants in Charleston or Redmond. I think it was Hawker Beechcraft that came very close to building a plant at the Baton Rouge airport in 2010 or so. They were throwing tax incentives at them with the hopes that their unions in Kansas would not cave. The unions caved and they stayed in Witchita.

I'm surprised Boeing doesn't have a second plant in Europe cranking out 737's given their extensive backlog of orders for that type. It's still a hugely popular air frame.

I think Embraer manufactures some of their smaller jets in Florida.

Drove past the Boeing plant in Charleston last week. That place is impressive. I would love to walk around.

A couple weeks ago I found out that Mitsubishi builds the F-15 for the Jap AF. Never knew that.

That range is perfect to add new or additional TATL service to mid market cities in the U.S. Even though the 787 made new/additional service more viable, a 787 would still be too much plane for some smaller markets. The 797 could potentially open up more markets than even the 787.

I think Mitsubishi may eventually partner with Boeing for regional jet construction - especially now that Airbus (and not China) has access to the struggling C-series program.

Oh absolutely the improved 787s are great but with the amount of money they spent on them overall they're not expected to turn a profit on them till like 2024. They released the first one in the early 2000s I believe....so thats not great to say the least.

Bingo. The longer distance runs where a 757, 767, A321, A330, or A320 are used.....this could handle. It would be ideal for Trans-Atlantic routes.

There's actually a pretty big gap in Boeing's lineup today when you think about it. In the short term, Airbus is in a great position to take advantage of it with discounted A330s and A321s.

They can't really stretch the 737 much more than they have without major gear updates. The Max 10 is also not expected to have the range or runway performance that the 757 had (or A321 has). They need the 797 ASAP.

Airbus A320NEO: 5200 Orders
Boeing 737 MAX: 4000 Orders

That's a lot of metal.

Embraer and Boeing need to link up more with their E2-Jet program. Boeing has collaborated with them before so it would make sense.
The 70-90 seat regional market will need more airframes as these older CRJs and ERJ-135/145 models are retired.

FlyDubai, right?

They just landed a nice 787-10 order from Emirates, too. Emirates seems to be giving Airbus the finger because they don't want to re-engine the A380.

I agree.
Emirates will just respond by ordering up more 777-9's.
The A380 is their flagship I'm sure new orders won't happen beyond what they currently have.

One of the most amazing takeoffs I've ever seen was one of their 747 Dreamlifter cargo planes in Charleston. It was humid and raining. As the aircraft nose pitched up at the end of the takeoff roll, the bulbous fuselage suddenly developed an enormous condensation halo around the entire front of the airframe.
