There is shift in the regional operations and most carriers are getting away from 50 seaters. You'll see more CR7s, CR9s, E170s operating less frequently to markets currently served with 50 seat aircraft but still providing the same amount of, if not more, seats in and out.
Eta: I realize the 717 isn't a 50 seater, but it is replacing some 50 seaters since it can do in 1 flight what they can in 3 flights.

They've stopped production years ago. I'm curious as to what will eventually replace those terrible little 50 seat CRJs.
There are a lot of firm orders for the CRJ 900 and 1000. Seems like Boeing should have something in or around the 100 seat market. Looks like the new C-series will be taking over that market.

CRJs and E-jets with more seats but less flights/day will replace the 50 seaters. It is ashame. I wish they would bring back the turbo props for the smaller airports like Jackson on Monroe instead of cutting back on the number of flights/day but turbo props aren't sexy enough.

Certainly FedEx can get a good deal on these planes since they don't need seats with monitors built in them.
