A harsher death penalty is a mental deterrent to anyone contemplating murder.
Any stats to back up your assertion that the electric chair deterred more murderers than lethal injection?
A guy isn't willing to kill due the electric chair, but is willing to kill with lethal injection

What an awful analogy. A better one would be would you rather Rob a bank with guards armed with a shotgun or pistol. Both will leave you dead.

Imagine you have your drunk son in the car with you (and yes a drunk can do all this craziness too and it's legal) and you can't control him so you call in the police. He is tasered, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again, then again. Fifteen times. He dies. Do you blame your kid for being drunk, or the police for not being able to handle him without killing him?

Yes, the guy was on drugs and put himself in a dangerous situation.
Anyone else does this to someone, they will be tried for murder or at least manslaughter. Cops do it and they will walk away.
Cops are generally bad people. Their training makes them worse. There were many ways to deal with this situation without killing the guy, but cops are trained to use whatever force necessary to force compliance when compliance could be achieved in ways other than beating the crap out of someone, tazing them repeatedly, or shooting them.
How many dogs were killed by postmen, meter readers, or others who regularly deal with aggressive dogs? How many were killed by cops. Same situation with troublesome 'suspects'. How many people are killed by bouncers or security guards and how many by cops?
We have a domestic military force that is dangerous and needs to be rebuilt.
I agree with all of this except the part of cops generally being bad people. Yes there's a lot of bad cops, far too many in fact. But I don't think they form anything approaching a majority of cops. The bad ones get the headlines and make the good ones look bad. If Cops do something stupid like kill a man by tazering him 15 times, that makes news. When a cop does something good or just kind, it generally does not make the news.
But having said that, I do think we have a growing problem of cops becoming more akin to storm troopers than peace officers. We have allowed our police forces to become militarized. And I'm not just talking about all the military hardware they have now. Along with all the military tech they now have, a growing number of cops have a militarized view of law enforcement where they view anyone they come into contact with as a enemy combatant instead of a person.

Don't call the police to do your parenting for you.

he wasn't drunk. He had been having hallucinations.
Imagine you have your 32 yr old son in the car that had already been so out of control you decided flying was out of the question. No telling just how crazy he was a acting if his own family couldn't get him to calm down and then he bites his fiancé...we are talking about a 32 yr old man and he is biting people...wtf else are you going to do but call the police.
Now imagine you're a cop and you get a call from the guys mother about how out of control he is and when you show up on scene he is combative and trying to get your taser.
Sucks that he died but he was definitely combative. I saw you suggest they use billy clubs...so you are okay with them using force?
Posted on 5/24/16 at 9:19 am to Topwater Trout
I'm fine with force. Force is needed. I'm not fine with excessive force.
I would much rather get a cracked skull than have a massive heart attack due to excessive long shock sessions.

They should have taken him to the closest ER before calling the cops.

How many cops were on the scene? There's no valid reason that between all of them they shouldn't be able to get him out of the car and restrained without killing him.

As soon as the ER personnel saw he was combative, they'd have called the cops.

Agreed... I don't understand the excessive tasing either. There were what looked like 5 cops why use the taser.... One tase is acceptable but holy Molly 15 times.

In your perfect scenario, how should they have taken care of this guy tripping on spice? Same stuff that made Nkemdiche jump out of a window.

oh yeah, there is only one reason why LSUTangerine didn't post this.
