I heard his divorce was done in California and she got and ungodly amount of money awarded every month, based on accumulated past earnings.
And in that business, earnings are always variable. Makes no sense.

See, this should serve as a reminder as to why men get in trouble with making bad decisions with women. Most of the time Alimony is bullshite. There is no reason that woman can't get a job. Splitting up everything halfway is bad enough when she didn't do a damn thing to earn the money but then to make the him pay so she can "Keep her lifestyle" is criminal in my book.

I totally agree. Alimony is bullshite. But the fact remains, most people who go to jail over this or child support have/had the money to pay it

I know a guy that was a used car salesman that went to jail for not paying alimony. His wife's family was one of the richest ones in the state. Their lawyers somehow got him to pay alimony.
I know another guy that is in the LA National Guard, and he's been to jail a few times for not paying child support. That's his only job
