Law enforcement these days is a car creeping along the streets.

There's no human element to it until you get in a situation where you have to convince the human element that you aren't doing anything wrong or you aren't worth being arrested.


It's debatable and probably fruitless trying to figure out whose fault that is. Politicians keep adding more crimes that need to be enforced, but shouldn't be crimes or serious crimes.


But also: like my 94 year old grandmother who passed recently said, "Police used to be known by everyone. They walked their beat and got to know everyone in the neighborhood. They were human.

I went to walk your cousin home from school and said hello to the police officer, and he glanced at me and then ignored me. It was very rude.

I just think things were better when they were 'police men' instead of'police officers'.



She kind of had a point.


Those two terms may be similar, but are worlds apart in interpretation by both sides.

I doubt anything bad will occur this evening and I hope not
However, this was impromptu, therefore the thieves, etc may not have time to mobilize and take advantage
However, you can bet your bottom dollar if this goes on for days and weeks, it will be a terrible chaos

Richard Condon, of all people, had a really good take with about the exact same thing.

Said his dad would have beat his arse for calling them 'cops'

They were people to be respected because you knew who each of them were.

Do y'all know which agencies don't respond until law enforcement is on scene? Fire and EMS.
