Yes! Most of 2024 because I posted a gif of an actual bear sitting at a picnic table. Learned my lesson tho!
I think some folks just like the attention they can get from stirring shite up, because they don’t have much else going on in life.

I don't know where you live, but there is no way any HEB here is quicker.

Not to insult anyone but working in a trade is usually a result of poor decision making....that includes eating habits. Those same people most likely smoke more than white collar people, don't exercise as much, drink more...and eat less healthy. I would bet we spend more on lottery tickets than white collar folks do because most of us understand the math that is required to ply our trade but beyond math is a mystery. We tend to be less educated, less interested in getting an education and taking what appears to be the path of least resistance. We also tend to be a creature of our upbringing and familial experiences. These are not fixed in stone of course but generalizations.

I'm not hating on people in the trades, but this discussion is why the "you can own your own business in the trades" arguments are failures.
A very, very small % of people in the trades have the intellectual capacity, temperament, and discipline to operate a successful trades company.
Most of those people in that small population probably would have been better off going to college and using those traits in a more lucrative business field.
MOST people who start a trade ain't capable of making a career out of it.
The vast majority are not capable of passing a contractors license exam. They may have passed a journeyman exam if the state or local AHJ requires it but that is not a contractor license that allows one to sign designs and pull permits. The first contractor exam I took had a failure rate of almost 98% for first time attempts....in the electrical field, a field that generally requires a little more in the way of education than most trades to get into at the entry level.
Almost none who decide to start a business make a go of it because they are 2 completely different skill sets. Usually a tradesman who does transition succesfully from the field to owning their own business will have stopped along the way as something in the trade other than a General Foreman. A few superintendents may be able to pull it off but if you ain't a project manager or at least an accounts manager in the building trades by the age of 30 you probably ain't going to be succesful running your own business. If you ain't there by 40 you are almost certain to fail. You do not need to be an electrician to be an electrical contractor - you need to know how to hire people who know how to make your business function and eventually profitable. The truly behemoth building trades contractors wont have many if any project managers from the ranks of trade employees today because most of those are retired or dead...and far too many people with project management degrees who are highly educated in the profession are available to take the risk on a 35 year old general foreman or superintendent without anything more than a 2 year degree or a 5 year apprenticeship program in the way of formal education. These companies are billion dollar year organizations operating across the globe.....they ain't 2 guys and a truck. The former have been around for 100+ years, the latter will last as long as their luck holds out or they get in a fist fight over a gas station honey bun and dissolve their partnership.....

I flew right past this but this is almost certainly so. If a tradesperson does find that they have transitioned from the field to management, not ownership but management beyond field employee management (General foreman, superintendent), by the age of 35 or so, and aren't kin to or married into the family of the owner, and it is a business beyond an owner and 15-20 employees, they are almost assuredly far to intelligent to be in a trade and have probably missed their window of opportunity to be extremely succesful with far less risk than one has to be willing to accept as a small, 100 employee range, trades company. That person is almost inevitably pretty damn sharp at solving problems under stress and with some nurturing of that skill with some well applied education would most likely make far more than they would running that 100 employee business without nearly as many headaches and certainly less risk. Foundationally they will only be responsible for a much smaller workforce of professionals than they would be with a trades company...that alone is infinitely less risky. If you have ever had 100 trades people you were responsible for you know this without question.....many of those 100 will have some epically bad decision making skills and may cost you EVERYTHING.

We are routine guys. And HEB isn’t open at 4am, so we get used to the gas station it’s faster and easier.
What is it with business casual guys getting jimmy rustled over shite that doesn’t pertain to them.

The earlier rise/hours of operation for gas stations + cigarettes are probably 98% of it, and then a honey bun is always sitting there looking at them as well.
The real question and anomaly here its how the proud planner, the financially astute thinker fella found himself mixed up with these bad boys at the crack of dawn. Standing there bewildered first thing in the morning gawking...needing gas... an undeniable embarrassment to the HEB meal prepper life style for sure. I would have kept this to myself, for those blue collar boys know not what they do, but you... you sir... wow.

What attracts these guys to gas station food or snacks? It’s quicker, cheaper, and healthier to pop into HEB and grab something, yet it’s like some badge of honor for the F250 and work truck guys to stop every morning at the gas station and buy junk.
You just outed yourself as someone that has never had a Lando Norris Monster and a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit that has been sitting under the warmer for 2 hours. Pure joy.
