Waste of money.

Cry about the deficit, then applaud parades and other stupid shite that's not necessary? You're a Republican.

I guess they can't swing by Baton Rouge which is on the way

They don't want to get stuck in traffic

Mandie would like to point out how the money spent for this could be used for handouts to her constituents.

You realize these pilots have to fly a certain number of hours anyway to keep their status right?

And there's no other way to do that? The fuel/travel alone suggests they can get hours elsewhere for cheaper.

What does it matter if they're flying in circles for 3 hours or flying across the state for 3 hours? Is this one of those "drive 100mph for better fuel mileage" things?

If you don't have a problem with demonstration teams normally you shouldn't have a problem now.

Far more money is wasted on the military than these flyovers.

Let them burn fuel and get flight time, that is good for the economy.

would it burn less fuel or cost less money if they just flew out over the gulf where fewer people could see?

Holy fricking shite

Yes, its cheaper to fly in circles.. And I mean, they could at least save the parking costs when they valet the planes at the super 8 in each city they go.

The fuel costs the same regardless of where they fly to or around. No, there is no other way to get flight time that actually flying. I had a few friends who were military pilots and they used to tell me of trips they made just to get flight time. Like, flying out to Colorado on a Thursday, staying the weekend to ski, then flying back on Monday. Lots of instances like that.

Can you share with the class how the frick a pilot can get the same amount of flight hours for cheaper?
