I knew a guy who made a good living managing a blockbuster back in 2004. I was asking him how they were going to deal with Netflix. He said they had a plan and he wasn't the least bit worried.

Honestly, take me back to cable and blockbuster. I’m over having to figure out how to watch something, managing subscriptions, and getting streaming issues like this past weekend with the PGA Championship. The CBS app was laggy as hell so I found a free online bootleg stream with no issues. Such great “technological advancement.” Never had a “streaming” or technical issue with good old basic cable. You pressed the power button on the TV, hit the CBS channel, and you were done. No random app crashes.

Prime Video is nice but nothing beats browsing the aisles at a mom and pop video store to find something that interests you.

But what does it all mean?

It's 2020, so the worst possible scenario is the likely one.... Maybe the interwebs are about to collapse and we'll headed back to renting movies.

Blockbuster passed on an opportunity to buy Netflix.

:letthatsinkin:

But, as a nostalgia trip for folks of a certain age, man, that was a great Friday night tradition, was it not? Load up the kids and go pick out the movies for the weekend.

Good times...good times...

Blockbuster is an amazing case study to me. They were essentially unrivaled in the home video consumption industry but they didn't anticipate the evolution of the market and were left trying to play catch up to Redbox and Neflix. It would have made complete sense if someone told you in 2000 that Blockbuster would be an internet streaming giant 20 years later.

The original Netflix and chill. Walk the aisles, pick out some movie candy, and patiently await your over the pants handy.

It's not been a blockbuster year for me financially. My Blockbuster stock is down.

I'm ok with this. 2000 was a very good year for me.

And somewhere out there is a start up that's going to take down a facebook, twitter, etc. that the tech giants of today will pass over as well.

I think Amazon will buy it all, including Disney and mcdonalds in its monopoly.

Then it'll literally buy the Amazon jungle. Just to have.
