Oh I get the concept. I just don't think it's worth all the trouble.

You realize it isn't just affecting old people, right? You're not immune to it. Even if you survive it after having contracted it, you may have scarred lungs. Possibly forever. Which, you know, leads to shite like COPD. And if we just say frick and go about our normal day, it won't be tens of thousands that die. It'll be hundreds of thousands.

Many of which will be healthcare providers.

Enjoy your 3 month wait time for your stitches.

And, yeah, we need to figure out how to get the economy back from the brink, and social distancing like we are now isn't going to help that, but that's a few weeks away.

Hopefully, if all goes well, you'll always have the luxury of thinking "that want worth the trouble."

Okay Nancy

The economy is more important than even 10's of thousands of deaths. A global depression would be exponentially worse than the pandemic could ever dream of being. You think health care will be severely affected if we don't shut everything down? See what happens when we do shut everything down for an extended period.

Hundreds of thousands dead. Maybe millions depending on your source and the timing of the let off of restrictions. Which will also affect the economy. Look, I agree. They need to balance the economy with the inevitability of people dying from this disease. It is worth the trouble to save lives in the face of a pandemic but I agree that we cannot damage the global economy to a degree that it's unrecoverable. Global depression would and will be catastrophic. And it will happen. It's too late for that to change. It would've happened with or without Stay Home orders. But hopefully we mitigate that. I don't think steepening the curve does anything to help you with our common goal of saving the economy from utter collapse.

then the rest of the country is screwed.
some of the rest of the country will be inoculated with Vitamin D3 and won't feel any symptoms of China flu. That prob doesn't mean much to you but just take my word. Won't help the north a whole lot.

So you're saying the global economy is fricked regardless so we may as well save a few lives while we're at it. Am I understanding that correctly?

She admitted in today's briefing that this is the worst-case scenario. That passed without being questioned.

That’s child’s play. AOC says if we don’t pass the Green New Deal, everyone will be dead in 9 years. Top that!

I wonder if this is turning into each state trying to paint the bleakest picture because of the competition for resources.

Uh.. bingo. It’s all about getting money and supplies.

But mostly money for your bank account.

That's the point of flattening the curve. Delay the peak. Spread out the cases so hospitals aren't overrun. Mid May isn't bad. 10,000 cases a day will suck dick.

Delay the peak? And how do you do that? Quarantine and isolate them release everybody at the sound of a starter pistol.

Flattening the curve =\= delay the peak

I live in a town of less than 1,000 with no positives yet, and out park is closed, and there’s a curfew from 10-5 for everyone. You have no choice but to take it seriously.

I agree. Believe it or not, a lot of doctor’s offices are struggling to pay their bills and are laying off employees because they’re seeing less than half their patients. Most people are too afraid of going in for their follow up visits for non-Covid issues.

It’s a bad flu, just as Fauci finally admitted yesterday.

Just let me know when we start getting closer to the 2.2 to 4 million deaths the experts had us shut down the economy over.
