This will be a completely honest thread about the finances of the OT. I’m sure of it

The commenter talking about his life being bad because of immigrants is the one who brought politics into the thread so go cry to him. Btw you’re not on any moral high ground since you just posted two paragraphs about politics in the thread
However my initial comment was made while I was high so I forgot what thread I was in. To op congrats on beating debt and cancer

You needed student loans to learn how to drive a truck?

Truck driving is a pretty smart way of paying off a lot of debt quickly.

Congrats man! I’m kinda jealous!
I don’t have as much debt as others. My home being my biggest debt. But I wouldn’t trade my journey for anything. I’ve struggled at times, but I’m happy where I’m at. Currently chipping away, but Dave Ramsey would probably judge some of my decisions.

frick yea! Awesome! Congratulations!
Paid off my truck last month. Wife’s vehicle paid off 3 months ago. She still has about 10k student loan debt.
Less than $100k on mortgage with alot of equity in home.
Business loans 3 years away from being paid off.
Gotta keep grinding.

How do you like the trucking life? How long did it take you to find a job after finishing trucking school? How stressful is it on the road with the idiot drivers?

Congrats! You stay in the left lane?

quote:It's quite simple, safety will improve because the non-english speakers can't read the overhead emergency signage, instructions going into construction zones, instructions at warehouses, being able to communicate with first responders after an accident, etc. It has absolutely nothing to do with politics and everything to do with common sense safety. Just this past weekend a wreck happened in a construction zone in Lincoln NE where a truck driven by a Ukranian was not in the correct lane of a very sharp turn in a cz. All trucks were supposed to be in the left lane, he never got out of the right. When the lanes made a sharp left turn his trailer went into the left lane and side swiped a SUV. Simple things like that put lives at risk.
How is getting rid of immigrants going to make capitalists stop exploiting truckers?
Also, the foreign drivers here are working for FAR LOWER wages than what American drivers demand as there is no minimum wage in this industry. I for instance work for .71 cents per mile driven, while the Indian drivers are working for .20 cpm. The companies they are working for are exploiting that cheap labor to undercut bids for freight and it has completely stifled pay for the entire industry for the last two decades. It has become a huge issue for us now because while inflation went up, our freight rates have gone DOWN.
Hope that helps. It's nothing about racism as the lefties love to play and everything with common sense.

quote:I had my first job before I left trucking school - kllm in Jackson. Sucked. Worked for AG in Baton Rouge for a few years when all of the bad loans caught up with me. I've been with my current gig now since 2016 and love the company but hate what this industry has become. Corporate Logistics figured out in covid they could exploit the hell out of truckers and they've been on a warpath- the latest thing is all TA/Petro truck stops putting up toll gates on their property to park for the night. Gotta cough up $30 every night to park there and the trucking companies aren't reimbursing their drivers for it - this is why you're starting to see more and more truckers parking on the shoulders of freeway merge ramps now.

Dude, always liked your posts just from the first impression of your name and avatar. Funny AF.
Could not be happier for you that you overcame cancer and mountains of debt. Seeing people persevere through tough times in life is frigging motivational, even if we don't know you.
Bravo, Horsemeat.

You do the same kind of thing, Owl. We know you've been through a rough patch, but you still post some funny shite, so your sense of humor is still there, which is inspirational.
I put myself in other people's shoes often and wonder how I would handle really bad life events happening to me. I always hope I'd be able it to handle it like a bunch of you in here do. I know things might be different "behind the scenes" so to say, but you guys are still in here having a good time, goofing on everything and everyone in sight. Great sign in my book.
