Well, I'd probably dance a jig if ol' Barry snuffed it, so I guess we're even.

Tell her she can never cry around you because white tears are oppressive.

For frick's sake, it's a classroom where you look at the legal issue from so many angles, regardless of some douchebag's feelings.

This line of thinking is so dangerous because, like you alluded, destroys the essence of free exchange of ideas.

Education is about learning and growing as a person. How can we expect learning to occur when a student doesn't feel safe? In order to nurture education, students should be protected from dangerous or harmful ideas that could disrupt the learning process. It's exactly why Socrates never said anything offensive to his students to protect them. We could learn from his example.

This it to be expected when there are only 2 "right-of-center" professors at Georgetown Law out of 125. It's a liberal mecca.

Actually, it was Aristotle that created the safe space.

after quickly skimming the article, I thought they were upset because a professor expressed contempt toward Scalia.

Nah, the article isn't that well-written, to be honest. I could see how the opening paragraphs can be confusing.

“Although this email was upsetting to us, we could only imagine what it was like for these students. Some of them are twenty-two year-old 1Ls, less than six months into their legal education. But we did not have to wait long to find out. Leaders of the Federalist Society chapter and of the student Republicans reached out to us to tell us how traumatized, hurt, shaken, and angry, were their fellow students. Of particular concern to them were the students who are in Professor Peller’s class who must now attend class knowing of his contempt for Justice Scalia and his admirers, including them. How are they now to participate freely in class? What reasoning would be deemed acceptable on their exams?”

This statement is by the professors who responded about the students who support Scalia....

And the Black Law students response basically said, yeah it sucks for them but look how much worse we have it.

Whitey. In particular, any whitey who might deem it fit to mourn and praise Antonin Scalia - an alumnus of Georgetown, BTW, which is why this is relevant.
