Those are real auctions that sold for $15K+

And they were almost all re-listed.

The first item was re-listed, and then this:

I don't get it. One Beauty and the Beast Black Diamond sold for $15k. Another listing had a lot of 26 and they sold for $300.

Something fishy here

Which OT'er has a stack of them and can retire?

Better be a huge stack if you think someone can retire at $15K a pop.

Like I said a minute ago, every one of the auctions in that link sold. They are closed auctions that sold.

False. The "Sold Listings" checkmark works when you select Auctions, not Buy It now items. When you check some of the items you see it says "listing has ended" and it never shows up as an item on the seller's feedback list.

When selecting auctions with the "Sold Listings" option, you see one that actually ended with a bid at $8,000. Everything else on the first page sold <$500.

Its a scam dude. From Snopes:

quote:

On 7 April 2016, VHS and Betamax collector Dario Smagata answered a Quora question about the value of Disney Black Diamond Collection VHS tapes; Smagata echoed the $5 to $25 range cited by Philly Voice and noted that the items were "not rare" by any definition:

[The tapes are n]ot [worth] very much unless you can find the right person. Black Diamond tapes are becoming collectible, but they are not rare. You can find dozens of them in thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales for $1 or less.

That said, Disney collectors may pay more for them if they are harder-to-find movies, or if the tapes are in excellent condition. You might find someone willing to pay quite a bit for them if that is the case, but there's really no set value. It all depends on who comes along[.]

While it is true that a single Black Diamond Collection Beauty and the Beast Disney VHS tape once appears to have sold for $9,000 on eBay, the sale was almost certainly a fluke. Disney Black Diamond Collection VHS tapes are neither rare nor regularly selling for thousands, hundreds, or even tens of dollars. Higher priced listings of the videos on eBay did not attract any active bids.

I'm sure you are right. I just don't understand why it says "Sold for: Ridiculous Price" when you click the "original listing" button.

All of those original versions can be found online very easily. Kodi makes it easy to find without having to go on to sketchy websites to find them.

They are "paying" for the original VHS and packaging my man, not a version of the film

Just because people like to list something at a certain price doesn't mean it gets bought at that price.

It's a VHS of a movie that can be easily obtained on various other formats . It's not a first edition film canister of Song of the South. It's a VHS of the lion king.

WTF

I am very fortunate to have this in my possession. After tearing my shoulder and my ACL I have not been able to pay my lights or phone bills until right before they shut us off. I do not even own a cell, so not that bill. We are tired of living shut off notice to shut off notice but do not totally agree with looking for a hand out on the fund me page. I sell stuff on eBay and that is my only job while my wife cares for the children including the baby who is 1. We have been married for 27 years and have 6 kids and 4 grand kids and it is quite embarrassing for me to be this needy. Our house was stolen from us in 2006 and hard times is really all we know since then but we love The Lord and we are happy, just broke but need to pay the bills. If this sells I can get caught up a little. I peddle a bike right now but it is getting chilly. This is an original 1992 Black Diamond Disney Classics VHS of Beauty and the Beast. It is still sealed and has never been open. If you have any questions please contact me and I will respond honestly and as quickly as possible. Thank you for looking! Now....INVEST IN THE BEST!!! They have active ones of the same tapes on ebay for $1. Black Diamond and all. The ones you posted are all scams of some sort.

These are movies that every young family in America had a copy of in the late 80's through the 90's. How rare could something that had that kind of distribution actually be?

Haha, his only job is selling things on eBay but he's dirt poor and his wife is unemployed, if that was real I still wouldn't feel bad for that idiot

The only rare Disney move is Song of the South

quote:

The film's depiction of black freedmen and of race relations in Reconstruction-Era Georgia has been controversial with a number of critics, both at the time of its release and in later decades, describing it as racist.[5] Because of this, the film has never been officially released in its entirety on home video in the United States.

Just because they list it for that price doesn't make it worth that price. Someone has to pay for it. And there is no one that has or will pay it.

How could you not comprehend this on your own?
