There are 68,000 billing codes under the new ICD-10 system, as opposed to a paltry 13,000 under the current ICD-9.

What's the code for "masturbated furiously until the skin became raw, inflamed, and tender"? I'm asking for a friend.

Love me some I-10. However I am in healthcare consulting so it has kept me employed. So glad I am not a provider.

This is asinine. General codes I get, but one for every conceivable diagnosis? You can't cover everything, nor should you try to.

Well it's kind of like a dictionary. Do we really need all those words? Just like the average person doesn't know all of those words, there could be twice as many codes and it still wouldn't matter.

Depends on the billing system. Most auto convert. But some will have to be specially changed because of new diagnoses codes. Many started October 1

Will have to see if it's the clusterfrick they have warned us it may be. Just more bullshite we have to deal with that takes us away from patient care, increases overhead and hurts revenue.

To be honest I have used all of those examples in the past except for the jet engine one. I could use the in laws one with most of my patients
