no.. i just did PEMDAS but forgot it has to read left ---> right, you can't just throw in any order.

The issue with the calculator is that "/" isn't ambigous like the division sign is. If there was a "/" instead of a division sign, there would be no question the answer is 288.

Multiplication and division are done in the same order. Left to right determines the order in which the go. 48 divided by 2 goes first. There is no other way. Hell, look at the calculator

WELL, then exactly how the fricking equation is written both 2 and 288 are correct answers worth 100% credit

These things are so stupid. Replace the divided by symbol with fractional notation and most of this confusion goes away. It's a test in PEMDAS, and nothing else.

Multiply and divide are on the same plane... you do whichever comes first starting from left to right. Same with addition and subtraction.
