This is the equivalent to a school yard debate when someone comes to the realization how stupid they are.

I’m willing to be stupid so I can learn. The replies here have made me less stupid, I think.

Isn't "bitter almonds" what strychnine is supposed to taste like?

'B17' is literal cyanide

Kinda sorta.

B17 is amygdalin or a synthesized compound called laetrile.

If you look at the skeletal for amygdalin first and laetrile second you will see a carbon atom triple bonded to a nitrogen atom that is a cyanide anion

One of the anaerobic bacteria in the human gut has high beta-glucosidase activity which means it produces an enzyme that will hydrolyze the amygdalin into prunasin then to mandelonitrile. Then the enzyme hydroxynitrile lyase is the catalyst to release the benzaldehyde and HCN. The HCN is obviously hydrogen cyanide.

The original theory was something along the lines of the cancer cells had much higher beta-glucosidase activity then the rest of the human body so it would produce the cyanide at a much higher rate and thus kill the cancer cells while doing less damage to the healthy cells. That is the type of action chemotherapy is based on. The problem was it turns out the body and the cancer cells have similar beta-glucosidase activity which produces bad results if amygdalin is ingested in high enough amounts to kill cancer. It is simply bad homemade chemotherapy.

Most doctors are bought out and they don’t even know it. The last 111 years of health care has been bought out completely. During the late 1800’s - early 1900’s mainstream medicine was all about herbal medicine, chiropractic, homeopathy and naturopathy.

Do you know what they call natural substances that work as a standard of care? They call it medicine.

Take, for instance, Taxol.

Taxol is one of the primary chemotherapy agents used in the past 30 years. Want to guess where it was found. The bark of the Japanese yew tree.

Taxol worked so well, the dilemma became that every Japanese yew tree on earth was going to be harvested to get the bark, and this wasn’t acceptable. Fast forward several years, and a pharmaceutical company researched how to synthesize the agent without mowing down whole forests.

If bitter almonds work as you say, we'll see a similar track for their usage.

If there's more money to be made in maintenance meds than a cure, you can bet your arse the pharmaceutical companies will suppress that cure.

Ah, the old *insert natural ingredient here* "KILLS CANCER but cant be monetized so the evil companies won't let you know about it" crap....

And the best part of the dumbasses who believe this is they are usually trying to sell some stupid product in pyramid scheme fashion to monetize the very thing they claim can’t be monetized.

It’s a special kind of stupid

Have another glass of basic water because we all know cancer can’t survive in a basic environment.

Yes, heaven forbid they recoup the millions spent on R&D.

That's stupid. If a company finds a cure, they tend to produce it and make shitloads of money while their competitors fall behind.

Most cooks know that Bitter Almonds could be bought and ground up for a better almond flavor in their baking. And that they could not be bought in North America because the bakers here couldn't be trusted. (Or some such crap.)
I've always wondered if "pure almond extract" were distilled from bitter almonds and if "almond extract" was from other seeds as the latter is a lot more bland and cheaper.

This was the plot of a Law and Order episode years ago; McCoy charged the the female oncologist with murder. She was prosecuted because the breast cancer patients she treated with apricot seeds died from cancer.
